Tiny chairs - back pain

Hi, I'm in EYFS so I spend a lot of my time sitting on tiny chairs. I am finding I am increasingly struggling with siatic nerve pain and I don't think the chairs are helping. If you are in EYFS, what do you sit on when working with groups of children? Obviously I don't want something that makes me tower above the children!

Could you kneel on the floor? I don't teach early years in school, but that is what I do for my group at church (2 - 6 year olds). To make it easier on your knees you could use a garden kneeler, my knees are pretty hardy as I have a bad back that means I sometimes struggle with an ordinary chair and my backup was always just to kneel... (I just fold a scarf or cardigan and kneel on that)

We have some bigger chairs for the adults working with the children...makes such a difference!

Often I just sit cross legged on the floor but that's not always practical!

Big chairs! I teach PPA in all classes, and the first thing I do upon entering EYFS, is search for an adult sized chair.
My aching, middle aged self (plus I'm tall) is not up to kneeling or folding myself over on teeny tiny chairs.Smile

Totally feel your pain, I look ridiculous sat on the tiny chairs but also haven't found a solution.

I roll my normal chair over to the table I'm working with. Or I sit on the table...

Could you get one of those kneeling chair jobbies and take it about with you?

Or this looks pretty awesome. There is even a picture of somebody at a primary school table!

I’d ask for a workplace assessment. I’ve had a slipped disc and it’s no fun - prioritise your back.

My school bought me a special chair which helped. Kneeling gave me old maids knee. It has been agony.
