Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

:)

That sounds crap. I don't know if teachers are getting it worse than others (viral load?) but I don't know any who have had the 'mild sniffle at worst' that some claim.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/09/2021 20:08

@AttaGirrrrl sounds rough. Hope you recover soon.

AttaGirrrrl · 30/09/2021 20:11

Yeah, I was Googling viral load (trying to work out if I’m just a wimp) but I don’t understand how if the viral load was high, I would have got it but other staff wouldn’t, if that makes sense? There are quite a few of us out, but obviously loads still in.

WhenSheWasBad · 30/09/2021 20:31

That sounds rough attaGirrrl

We are very short staffed. Some of it is Covid but not all of it.

cornercupboard · 30/09/2021 21:08

We've been told there are no supply teachers at all. TAs are being put in charge of classes, other TAs spread about really thinly. If anyone else goes the Deputy head will have to teach. Shock horror eh Grin

We also have the filthy cold everywhere. Whole year budget of tissues almost gone in a month. But hey, gaslighty twat head has gone on a conference today Hmm

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 21:22

RETURN OF THE TAG

We have to collect evidence for TAGs in case TAGs happen. Workload ahoy. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4363178-Consultation-Evidence-collection-for-Teacher-Assessed-Grades-2022-in-case-exams-are-cancelled

chocolateisavegetable · 30/09/2021 21:29

corner things got so bad for us at the end of last year that the HT had to cover classes!

Atta wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/09/2021 21:31

Our deputy is teaching, TAs left in my class and other KS lead classes while we deal with monumental behaviour shit. The exclusions have begun. So many feral kids, not in my class (thank goodness). Luckily an EP was in today and witnessed some extreme stuff, including staff being pushed over.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 21:33

Can't believe what you put up with in primary.

Atta maybe other staff had fresher vaccinations or had natural immunity from previous infection? Or just weren't in close contact.

WhenSheWasBad · 30/09/2021 21:51

Bloody hell rule that sounds horrific.

Please don’t let TAGs come back. Last year I had a grand total of 1 free period of extra time to get them all marked.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 21:53

You'll have to mark them anyway, Whenshe, just in case.

I mean, I can see their point, last minute evidence collection was crap. But it's a huge workload - what is the risk that exams will be cancelled again?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/09/2021 21:58

I was supposed to be going away with 'the girls' this weekend. AirBnB booked, restaurants booked.. one of them has just tested positive. Teacher, obv.

That was my weekend last weekend @RuleWithAWoodenFoot :( All worked out in the end but a kick in the teeth
Hercisback · 30/09/2021 22:10

TAGs will be ok as we do December mock, March mocks anyway. So a final one before the exam date wouldn't be too onerous. I do have 90 y11s x3 papers per sitting though!

HarrietDVane · 30/09/2021 22:11

Bloody hell, Rule, that sounds horrendous!

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 22:23

Do you normally moderate mocks, Herc? That’s extra for us.

Hercisback · 30/09/2021 22:27

We have started to moderate assessments pre TAG but not as rigourously as TAG moderation.

Hercisback · 30/09/2021 22:27

Had*

My typing is shocking tonight.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/09/2021 22:30

All worked out in the end

Yep, I've got plenty of decorating to do. Which I quite enjoy tbh.

JanglyBeads · 30/09/2021 22:52

Noble this article re Wales might hint at an answer to the free LFTs question - it’s interesting for other reasons too:

DreamingofBrie · 30/09/2021 23:14

Rule Sad. Hope your friend is better soon. Any possibility of rescheduling?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/09/2021 23:17

I don't understand that article. Must be bedtime.

She added that safety measures in schools last term were not that "restrictive" and would welcome the reintroduction of some again.

She hasn't been working in a school tho.

motherrunner · 01/10/2021 05:00

TAGs okay for us too. We have September and January mocks and each half term Yr 12 have to sit a timed question under exam conditions. This half term Yr 11 are sitting their mocks AND their timed exam question - gotta love that marking!

motherrunner · 01/10/2021 05:01

*Yr 11 (same principle for Yr 13. Yr 10 and Yr 12 have half term exam questions but they're not timed).

motherrunner · 01/10/2021 05:03

Reading the OCR update. They have confirmed that there will be changes to English Lit but haven’t decided what those changes will be so I can’t drop a text just yet.
