Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

Nothing lower than a 5 to bottom set?! You got 100% pass rate? Selective school? Shocker otherwise.

Yes, selective.
motherrunner · 30/09/2021 07:36

Just had my group’s papers backs from their Lang mock this week. My weakest student has achieved 7/40 which is a Level 1. Only 4 out of my class of 25 achieved higher than a 5. This will be the academic year where we don’t have minimum of a 5.

This is the first year of the 5 form entry and we are seeing the effects of the growth.

borntobequiet · 30/09/2021 07:43

The grammars local to me some years ago tacitly resisted growth for some time as they knew what would happen to results. They habitually eased underperformers out after GCSEs and poached as many bright kids as they could, who weren’t always impressed with the quality of the teaching, which was often complacent, unreflective and old-fashioned (in a bad way). The underperformers (mostly boys) came to us for A levels and often excelled themselves.

borntobequiet · 30/09/2021 08:10

(Not implying anything about other grammars, just the ones local to me at a particular time some years ago.)

@Piggywaspushed

Anyone else also got a DC in these age groups?
Yep I have one in Y11 and one in Y10
TheHoneyBadger · 30/09/2021 15:19

I've got a year 10.

@motherrunner

This time last year I knew I could drop one Literature test will Yr 11. There’s no benefit in finding out in Feb as all the course would have been completed by then as it’s just revision.

What’s worse for me is that I have bottom set this year and narcissistic second had bottom set last year. She didn’t give anything lower than a 5 to her set. My bottom set will be studying all the texts and have proper exams and my results will be compared to hers. Only I can’t write ‘the system and a liar’ on my appraisal, just shit teacher’.

But they already said that for Eng Lit ages ago??
motherrunner · 30/09/2021 16:13

I thought that but my HoD has said warmer teaching all texts.

motherrunner · 30/09/2021 16:13

*we’re

Piggywaspushed · 30/09/2021 16:15

Pretty sure that isn't necessary. Don't quote me though as I am not teaching year 11.

motherrunner · 30/09/2021 16:21

She said a decision hasn’t been reached but I’m sure the consultation ended in July.

Piggywaspushed · 30/09/2021 16:36

It did. You have to be on the ball to spot these things though and she may have missed it. I saw it because I remain in a big sulk about history, Eng Lit and geography being special cases.

Piggywaspushed · 30/09/2021 16:36

We are apparently teaching them all though 'for breadth'.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 16:41

I couldn't answer the Teacher Tapp question today about when teachers should be told what will be on the exam, because maths only is getting a 'formula sheet'.

My Y11s were very excited.

ChloeDecker · 30/09/2021 18:40

@Piggywaspushed

It's all ridiculous. Some subjects get so much better treatment than others.
I think all Art teachers will be going out on the piss tonight Grin

schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-u-turns-on-move-to-weekly-school-attendance-collection/

What could be behind this change?! I’m only surprised that they haven’t stopped reporting at altogether!

Appuskidu · 30/09/2021 18:56

It was the news about the dfe publishing attendance data fortnightly rather than weekly I was referring to-that article mentions it but it’s not the main focus.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 18:57

I think people noticed that there wasn’t an attendance data release on Tuesday and questions were asked. The papers have actually been reporting it this time.

It’s clear that they need more schools data not less as we go into winter. No more cover-ups allowed.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 19:33

End of September, that means the review of LF testing in schools….anyone heard anything?

AttaGirrrrl · 30/09/2021 19:43

The English Lit announcement was just today. They announced ages ago that we wouldn’t need to send videos for English language spoken endorsements, but we’ve literally just learnt that we don’t need to teach one of the texts for Lit.

AttaGirrrrl · 30/09/2021 19:46

Oh. Wait. I just checked on Twitter. The exam boards haven’t confirmed the changes to Lit so we still don’t know. It’s a joke.

noblegiraffe · 30/09/2021 19:52

How are you feeling, Atta?

AttaGirrrrl · 30/09/2021 19:54

Bloody awful. This shouldn’t surprise me, should it? The coughing has started in earnest today. Grim.

AttaGirrrrl · 30/09/2021 19:54

Sorry. Forgot my manners. Thank you for checking in @noblegiraffe Flowers
