Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

Ooh, the govt will love you. You're supposed to be hiding all the Covid in schools, don't you know?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 23/09/2021 23:17

@DanglingMod

X is only for while they're getting a test (or class closure etc). If actually confirmed covid positive, it's back to I now.
Yes, that's us too.
JanglyBeads · 23/09/2021 23:24

Yes Dangling - in our place it’s an I with a note attached saying Covid (or something)?

MrsHamlet · 24/09/2021 04:47

In case ECTs haven't been given a copy, this is the statutory guidance for induction:

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/972316/Statutory_Induction_Guidance_2021_final__002_____1___1_.pdf#page15

Lots of useful info in here.

We seem to have just switched, lots of X's changed to I's for covid positive kids. This is annoying as we are supposed to set work for self-isolating students but not ill ones - used to be easy to tell as just look for an X, now it isn't...

So update on the poetry homework after my email...

This was text message sent originally: “ Year 6 homework is to learn and be able to recite a poem off by heart. This is one of their yr6 targets. The poem needs to be learnt for Monday 27th Sept. Maths is on My maths on the computer.”

I took this to mean ‘learn a poem by Monday’ but I was wrong. Her teacher said they only had to say what poem they would be learning on Monday for it to be recited at a later date.

I’m sorry but I thought ‘learn a poem by Monday’ meant ‘learn a poem by Monday’. Wish I could read minds ...

Iamnotthe1 · 24/09/2021 06:41

That sounds like an "Oh shit," moment to me. I'm sensing that there may have been several emails regarding the tight timescale and so there's been some backtracking done.

CarrieBlue · 24/09/2021 06:57

We have I01 for normal illness and I02 for covid illness

Yup.
Saucery · 24/09/2021 07:24

How difficult would it have been to write “the poem needs to be chosen for Monday. Children will then have until X date to learn it off by heart” 🙄

motherrunner · 24/09/2021 07:39

Exactly but as @Iamnotthe1 said I ah e a feeling it’s been a case of ‘oh shit, I made an error’.

DenbyChina · 24/09/2021 15:56

I thought that the teacher was backtracking over the poem as well! Well, who hasn’t thought through a project before? I’ve done equally silly things before.

Interesting factoid of the day - all of our local supply agencies (South East) no longer have the ability to send staff. They are either all working or out sick. Never heard of this happening before.

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/09/2021 16:38

Back to masks in communal areas from Monday for us (not me, I will still be at home on Monday). List of covid absences is ridiculous!!

MrsHamlet · 24/09/2021 17:03

Us too, although they can only request.

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/09/2021 17:16

That's true, but our kids are pretty compliant (and most of them are worried about catching it and passing it on to vulnerable family members). Any who have forgotten/broken their mask can get a new one at any time from the main office. And most of us have a box of them in our classrooms to hand out as well. The kids are used to this as they need them for the buses so often ask for a new one as they leave school.

Maybe time for U4T to step up and show what they can do? Could be their big moment.

I think all they need is a ‘Can do’ attitude!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/09/2021 17:39

Not even needed on buses here.

All carrying on as normal.

I can report back that two day H&S courses rock!!😂 Really useful, awesome food, comfy accommodation and I even got a free mug and a ton of pens (it’s the little things that matter in education 😂).

Won’t happen again for another 23 years but glad I went!

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/09/2021 18:09

Here it's: normal buses -personal choice, DH reports about 20-25% of passengers wearing them on his route School buses: we say you need a mask so you will wear a mask. If you don't have a mask on you don't get on this bus. Ask a teacher for a mask if you've lost yours
PumpkinPie2016 · 24/09/2021 18:55

Hope everyone is ok- checking in as been such a busy week I have barely been on hereSad

Good week but today was tough because I have a raging sore throat and teach all day on Fridays Sad so all day spent feeling rubbish but kids were great to be fair.

I am now also sneezing. Lateral flow is negative which is good.

MrsHamlet · 24/09/2021 19:48

Crawled over the line to the weekend

Piggywaspushed · 24/09/2021 19:56

Pumpkin do a PCR. Zoe app reported today that main symptoms in vaccinated are headache, sneezing and sore throat...

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/09/2021 20:06

No supply available in my area either - need at least 2 days notice. I had supply for my PPA this week, but had to wait 3 days for it.

AttaGirrrrl · 24/09/2021 21:30

We’re also back to masks from Monday.

@MrsHamlet - I have a very important question that will help identify if we know each other. Have you been on a train with gin this evening? Grin
