Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

Because they don’t want to draw attention to the 30% false positive rate?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 20/09/2021 20:28

We had a TA with positive LFT then negative PCR last week - but she felt and looked like shit, with all symptoms apart from loss of taste and smell. She was back at work like a numpty. I suggested she phone in sick anyway. She didn't.

I've got a sore throat tonight and massively aching eyes, but I had to do a presentation to 150 parents this evening, with kids playing in the background - probably just too much projecting my voice.

3 of the parents wore masks. THREE. I was downstairs signing them in - I'd left a note on the board saying 'take a chair and put it where you feel comfortable, the windows are all open' - I assumed they'd be scattered all over the room. But nope, rows all jammed together like normal. I stood way back, but I'm almost certainly the person at lowest risk from that meeting.

Reading twitter - loads of schools with 10+ kids off in one room and schools not being able to even close a class. That's mental.

Aching eyes is a Delta symptom.....

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 20/09/2021 20:32

AND, did you see that fucking message from our new 'leader' today? Gave me the rage.

"With your help, we are going to transform the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, including those with special educational needs and disabilities and in care, and ensure that those who have lost the most from the pandemic can recover and flourish, and that prosperity benefits all."

How about just THANK YOU in massive letters. Leave the 'you can work harder to fix our fuckups' stuff until another time.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 20/09/2021 20:32

Yeah, but also have new glasses. Negative LFT last night. See how it feels tomorrow.
WarriorN · 20/09/2021 20:36

I've already forgotten who that is

At the same time at least he mentioned sen. Gavlar never even bothered.

How are you feeling @SquashedFlyBiscuits? Any better?

I had a random though about acidic salvia (no idea if there was any truth to that) caused by another random virus, affecting lft so it shows positive while pcrs don't

Over heard a woman walking past me on the phone today, while I was picking up the wee one; "they've just sent anyone with a cough home..." I knew it was a school and children. Clearly struggling....

WarriorN · 20/09/2021 20:40

Cupboard very much reminds me of the pirate dinosaurs books.

Whole ocean and a few galleons in that cupboard.

Not quite spa like mind, but I do like a good surf 🤔

borntobequiet · 20/09/2021 20:51

AFAIK Zahawi has never shown the slightest interest in education, let alone education for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. I lived and worked in his constituency.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/09/2021 20:54

Did he used to be children's minister? I may have confused him with someone else.

I think he had a brief for Families and Children or something, but what does that mean? Gavin was Education Sec and that meant nothing.
DanglingMod · 20/09/2021 21:19

@noblegiraffe

I overheard today 'I heard you had covid' 'no, we all had symptoms and positive LFTs but the PCRs came back negative'.

What is going on?

Something well sketchy going on at the moment. We have an absolute raft of staff and students with +++ symptoms and +++ positive LFTs. ALL negative PCRs... Hmm
SquashedFlyBiscuits · 20/09/2021 21:38

Feeling a lot better. Will let you know when I get the result of my 4th pcr! I'm finding it interesting hearing reports of others having the same experience. I hope this means I will get some sort of explanation for it at some point. In the meantime, I am enjoying using the lovely textured handcream I own that normally gives me a headache as it is so heavily perfumed - can't smell a thing for now!

JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 21:51

Dangling, how old are you, may one ask?!

“Sketchy” is what my DC would say - it’s a good term!

DollyMixtureLulus · 20/09/2021 22:03

YY, we have had a sudden flood of + LFTs. It’s very, very strange.

Can concur about aching eyeballs.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I’m released! No sense of smell but otherwise completely fine.

I am oooolllllld (okay, I just miss out on a booster jab Angry) but had meant to write "as the kids would say..." Grin
JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 22:22

Ah, spotted! Grin

Can’t possibly post this on Data because apparently I need isn’t proper news, but 🤦🏻‍♀️:

*inews not I need

eitak22 · 21/09/2021 06:34

Spa day would be awesome! Sorry to hear how many people in here have it, hope you all feel better soon.

We have at least 3 members of staff off with covid and one class had about 15 children. All children in one year recommended to get a pcr test. It's a shot show, last year that bubble would have closed and we wouldn't be risking us all getting it.

There's no way that's not Covid then!

Something well sketchy going on at the moment. We have an absolute raft of staff and students with +++ symptoms and +++ positive LFTs. ALL negative PCRs...

During the Great North East Summer Delta Wave I'm sure we were told to treat lft as positive, with symptoms, mainly as so many cases.

borntobequiet · 21/09/2021 08:14

I’m old and I’d use “sketchy”. Maybe words come around again, like flared jeans? “Ghastly” seems to have made a bit of a comeback, I last heard it regularly from my lovely - and opinionated - very old friend who died four years ago at 99, not in the least inclined to hang on until 100 because of the tiresome celebrations that would be involved. She’d had an amazing life, having been married to someone fairly high up in Intelligence who simply vanished for two years during the war, and running refugee camps in Europe after it.

WarriorN · 21/09/2021 08:43

Well the Covid shit has hit our fan.

Several kids and staff.

And so it begins. Ffs.

JanglyBeads · 21/09/2021 09:09

This morning on Parents Utd some suggestions that the number of ppl getting pos LFT but neg PCR might be due to a new variant.... no idea whether that idea has any scientific merit or not though?!

borntobequiet · 21/09/2021 10:03

Wasn’t there some big deal about poor practice in test labs recently?
