Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

I'm excited even at the thought of a virtual spa! Will there be cocktails?
Is anyone in touch with Staff is she ok?
I haven't heard of Scottish guidance changing. They made a big deal of saying schools wouldn't have to track and trace anymore. They do send a letter/email to say when there is a case in your class.

JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 14:31

This seems to be a new change Mistress.

Have tried messaging Staff on here and on Skype, nothing. Last posted on MN a month ago. I hope her life is too exciting, rather than too stressful, to be on here!

CallmeHendricks · 20/09/2021 14:50

I am just fed up with hearing about friends whose work places offer exciting events and treats for them. Imagine a Christmas 'do' that wasn't in the local pub that you had to pay for yourself?

So, let's aim high and pretend that we are valued.

CarrieBlue · 20/09/2021 16:47

Not quite a spa but I am on a cpd course for two days this week with overnight stay and meals provided

I’ve slipped through a wormhole back to when I started teaching in the late 90s!!!

borntobequiet · 20/09/2021 17:30

Much as I admire Honey, I don’t fancy a Caretaker Republic. It sounds rather utilitarian. A spa with lovely gardens, a pool and a free bar would be OK. Also chairs (sun loungers?) and ventilation (ceiling fans?) as required.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2021 17:30

Wow Carrie!

So knackered but done for another day.

I have scheduled all ks4 hwk on the various platforms for the whole half term which feels like an achievement. Complicated array of google classroom, Seneca and gcse pod requiring various log ins etc. That’s my achievement for the day.

In other news latest pastoral role I decided not to waste my time applying (and giving away my ideas and time laying them out) for had a deadline to apply by last Friday. The girl I would have bet money on it being earmarked for was approached and told to apply by two different slt including head today despite the deadline having passed. Glad I didn’t waste my time and dignity again.

They may as well just give away tlrs and save everyone else the hassle of wondering whether to apply.

The actual course must be dire to require that level of bribery (sorry).
MsAwesomeDragon · 20/09/2021 17:57

honey that's shit. I don't think people should be asked to apply for posts, especially after the deadline. It should be that people who are interested apply by the deadline, they interview the people who applied, give the job to the best applicant. Or if all applicants are dire, readvertise. At that point you could start inviting people to apply if they haven't already.

JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 18:09

Yup I agree MsAD.

JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 18:09

What does the law say about what happens if no one applies?

MrsHamlet · 20/09/2021 18:28

That's appalling, Honey.

JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 18:30

A post on Parents Utd:

“One class in my daughter’s primary school had a positive result friday, Saturday and Sunday. PHE says that that is one result one week and two the following so class has to continue to come to school. How can this be anything other than three positive cases in three days?????“

Go on, laugh. It’s all we can do....

CarrieBlue · 20/09/2021 18:31

Grin it’s on health and safety but I find it really interesting and I think I’m going to have a lot of demands once back in school. I’m a bit gobsmacked I was allowed to go, though the second day is on my day off. Mind you, decent food (and the venue does feed attendees very well) goes a long way to compensate for less great courses (although any I’ve been to there have been great)

MrsHamlet · 20/09/2021 18:33

Meanwhile, we've had the link to do our fire refresher training online 🤦🏼‍♀️ It was shite last year. I can't believe I have to do it again.

noblegiraffe · 20/09/2021 18:36

I overheard today 'I heard you had covid' 'no, we all had symptoms and positive LFTs but the PCRs came back negative'.

What is going on?

WhenSheWasBad · 20/09/2021 18:39

That’s shit Honey

I’m up for a spa. Normally hate a spa day but sitting around doing bugger all sounds quite appealing right now.

I’m massively doubting myself today. Marked a test and the kids did so badly Sad. Every time I think I’m getting to grips with this teaching malarkey my confidence gets knocked.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2021 18:43

Yeah not ideal recruiting.

I would totally do health and safety course if I got another child and pet free sleep in a hotel room.

OP posts:
noblegiraffe · 20/09/2021 18:43

I'd do a Paul Dix course if it came with a hotel and free food.

I might heckle though.

Mistressiggi · 20/09/2021 18:48

Honey I don't think they'd give you another child just for doing a course Grin

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/09/2021 18:50

I'd expect nothing less noble.

I got to do a teaching A Level Maths course back in 2018/19. That was 8 days!!! Split into 3 sets of 2 days and 2 lots of 1 day. It felt so incredibly luxurious. On the 2 day courses I was allowed to stay over (in cheap hotels because school were paying). The course was pretty decent, the food was excellent, and the people were lovely. I wish I could do another one, but they think I now know how to teach A Level (i was already fairly decent at it, but the jollies were worth it)

MrsHamlet · 20/09/2021 19:11

Only "might", noble?

Hercisback · 20/09/2021 19:13

I'll join you noble (with the heckling).

CarrieBlue · 20/09/2021 19:34

I had a full week at Manchester uni learning about Particle physics (which I’d just covered in my degree) because none of the old duffers in my department (who had no idea about the subject) wanted to go. It was fab!!

MrsHamlet · 20/09/2021 19:35

I used to love English conference. Especially when I was the chair and got the fancy room upgrades 😂

JanglyBeads · 20/09/2021 19:40

I asked this on Data but no one answered - why oh why does a neg PCR trump a positive LFT?
