New In-School Workshops - Help please!
ArteforColombia · 15/07/2021 12:37
Arte for Colombia is a new not-for-profit organisation working to try and raise awareness in young people in the UK, Europe and USA on the killings of Human Rights Defenders in Colombia, and utilise their ingenuity and creative talent to develop a series of Art Exhibitions.
We believe art has the power to educate and inform, and get across a powerful message that can't be conveyed through long UN documents.
We are experts in Colombian history and will deliver workshops and assemblies to secondary schools, educating about human rights defenders killings in Colombia, and creating artwork to commemorate and stand up for the human rights defenders who are still being murdered even after the 2016 peace agreement. These workshops are aimed to build empathy within the students, promote teamwork, and develop art that will be used to highlight the issue globally in touring exhibitions, and lobbying politicians to help with the issues at hand.
We believe children are the catalyst for change, and with their help, we will turn the tide for a fairer global society.
If you've got this far...thank you. Would you be able to spend 5 minutes filling out this survey and sharing it in other teacher forums to help us get this off the ground and start making a difference to peoples lives.

Happy to give more context on the workshops if people are interested.

Hi OP, it's not clear from your post or the survey (unless I've missed it) what age group you are targeting these workshops at. I imagine secondary but as this board has nursery and reception teachers all the way up to A level, it might be helpful to specify.

We are indeed aiming this at secondary students. Sorry should have stated that a bit more clearly.
