Teacher to TA

Hi,
I'm currently working as a secondary school teacher, unfortunately I feel that the role is not for me and I would like to return to teaching assistant work (which I did unofficially as a technician so I don't have a TA qualification). Does anyone know whether I would need to be a qualified TA to apply for such roles or is having QTS an acceptable qualification to apply.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated 😊

Quite a few TAs at our school, are qualified teachers who have switched to TA roles for a better work life balance.

I've done this - 20+ years as a primary teacher and now 3 years as a TA. Swapped due to mental health crisis. The pay is rubbish but I love the job. All the best bits of teaching with none of the crappy paperwork!

Like Homez, I know a few people who have moved to TA roles for better work-life balance.

Thank you for your replies Smile I would really like to reach an interview, have sent several applications but haven't had any replies, one of my concerns was that I needed specific training for a level 3 TA, can I ask if you worked as a TA before training to teach?
Thank you again for your feedback

Still doing it, as I contemplate starting PGCE & beyond. Late life career change here, so I wanted to be sure that the classroom was where I wanted to be! Had volunteer experience prior to my first formal role. If you have any relevant experience at all, that would really help. Try contacting an education supply agency for an informal chat - you might be able to build up some work experience via a few short term placements first?
