Has your school class had to isolate?

I spoke to two teachers today (met in the cinema queue, coincidence, don’t know them). One a nursery teacher in Kew, the other a secondary teacher in Wandsworth.

The nursery nurse said they hadn’t been off school since January when they had to isolate for a staff member’s positive covid test. The other teacher he has been off each MONTH! (They have to stay at home until they have a negative test. Couple of days each time.)

Has your school had to isolate this year?

Not my class, but in my school we've had 7 full isolation periods since November.

The differences are amazing. Some schools seem to be hit hard over and over. Others not touched at all 🤷🏻‍♀️

We're just starting to have some children isolate (secondary) but their teachers do not!

My class once but it coincided with school closures in January anyway. The rest of the school…not yet!

We've had individual children or staff isolate very sporadically (and not many). No entire class has had to isolate at all. We are four-form-entry and our year group has had a single child test positive between August 2020 and now.

My class is the only one in my school that hasn't.

My school has had 1.5 Year 6 classes go off the 1st term. Child was a bit of a social butterfly and bubbles were mixed after school knocking his class +20 more isolating on Xmas day. I’m just back after a week but that wasn’t anything to do with school

Whole school closed last week as we had so many staff with track and trace self isolate notifications. It was linked to a parent who was on site for a morning testing positve

Not me but lots of classes in my school, we had so many staff affected at one point in December that the whole school closed! Yesterday 3 of my 9 classes were isolating!

Yes twice! We've had at least 8 bubbles burst this year. We are a two form primary.

We made it through the whole year then had to isolate the very last day of term and for the start of the summer holidays! (In Scotland so already started summer hols)

I’ve only had to isolate once and that was in December when we were hit hard. Since January, I could count on one hand the number of positive cases we’ve had (secondary). The same goes for my dc - one isolate in December and that’s it. In fact one of my dc has never had to isolate due to school bubble bursting at all.

No.
Only one yeargroup out in our 2 form entry primary, due to parents using LFTs on pupils that had symptoms and us being told by public health to send the whole yeargroup home until the couple of pupils who'd done it had the proper tests. Then one of the parents couldn't get their child tested in the 5 day window so they had to isolate for the full ten days.

Several parents were BOUNCING with school and with the parents who had cocked up too.

We’ve had two classes that have had to isolate (primary). Another school very near us had five classes isolating just last week!

Three times. I am year 6. If we make it to the end of term (next Thursday!) I will be very surprised given how many of them were at parties and pubs for the football. Our rate has jumped from 50 to 450 already.
