Calling in sick

I am really lucky in that I hardly ever get sick.
Today I had booked half a day’s worth of unpaid leave from my current school in order to attend a taster morning in my new school that I’m due to start working for this September.
All night I’ve been up and down to the toilet vomiting etc and have had to call in sick.
I’m so disappointed and worried that the school (having not got to know me) will think of me as a weak candidate. I tried to get up and brush my hair but my stomach was in agony and I needed to lay on the bathroom floor to stop feeling dizzy.

Oh gosh. How awful. I hope you’ve called them and said you can’t go? Really try not to worry. I ended up having two weeks off within my first month of one teaching job. I was absolutely horrified, but the head totally understood: if you’re ill you’re ill.

I hope you’re at home, sipping fluids and starting to feel better Flowers

Thank you. I rang them early but no one picked up. I then emailed my apologies and explained how disappointed I was.
They replied very kindly asking me to get well soon.
I’m not good with being ill. Such a waste of time!
Thank you for your reassurance! Flowers
