You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

@Mistressiggi

Softplay still hasn't reopened in Scotland. Although it can be hellish it can also be a nice way to kill a wet afternoon! My dc2 has almost grown out of them during Covid which is a bit sad.
I remember my BIL accompanying us to his first ever soft play, in Shawlands in Glasgow. BIL being fairly stylish and looking after his appearance. His first words were (in horror), "it smells of wee in here!".

There was about 1 glorious month in which I could sit with a cuppa and a bacon butty whilst dd and ds careered around soft play without my help Smile. Youngest ds arrived shortly after that...

Piggywaspushed · 12/06/2021 16:39

Mine never just went off and got on with it at soft play. Hate the places.

Think I was pretty lucky. I used to feel sorey for the Mams that were dragged around them. Though I had the odd slide myself Blush
JanFebAnyMonth · 12/06/2021 16:51

Our local, big soft play - which I used to kind of like - has just announced it’s never reopening ☹️

JanFebAnyMonth · 12/06/2021 16:51

(Not sad for us of course, we’re rather past that stage!)

Did anyones jabs bleed a bit?
Bit nervous as its AZ and thinking about it he squeezed my arm too and i did read i correct jabbing - causing it to bleed could have been the issue with AZ. Though i presume this wasnt the case as that would have affected pfizer too? But also germany said they knew what was causing it and i dont think it was the jabs.

My dc pove soft play still but we are unlikely to go in one for a while yet.

Did you move you second doses forward? Dp olisnt due second till mid jul. I dont think the delay to freedom day matters much as it's growing anyway. We just dont want to reduce the effectiveness of the jab

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 12/06/2021 17:12

timeturner she's amazing. Shoes off and then I don't see her for 10 minutes at a time - on the "big kid" play frame too! Regarding the non swimmer - we found a swim vest to be an absolute game changer.

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 12/06/2021 17:15

hshorror I only got offered to move mine forward yesterday, so unsurprisingly didn't take them up on the offer 😂

borntobequiet · 12/06/2021 17:37

The FT journalist person?

I believe she trained in Maths, couldn’t hack it (apparently her mental arithmetic wasn’t fast enough) full time and is now teaching Economics or something part time and hoovering up awards.
Not that there’s anything wrong with part time (did it myself when kids were small and after I turned 60). Maybe I deserve an award.

ChloeDecker · 12/06/2021 17:52

Ah, so not only part time now and sorry to any Economics colleagues on here but also has weeks and weeks off whenever Year 13/12 are off for exams or have left. Which is fine generally but she’s been honoured for that!?!?

ChloeDecker · 12/06/2021 17:56

Did anyones jabs bleed a bit?

Yep! I was a squirter! Some shot right out. Poor woman hadn’t got any cotton balls ready and had to scramble for some! But then I’m very veiny and very easy to draw blood from. Phlebotomists love me Grin

Timeturnerplease · 12/06/2021 17:56

@HobnobbingAboutHobnobs Thankfully we’ve got a floaty vest now, after she fell in head first last weekend trying to ‘help’ Grandad scoop the leaves 🤦🏻‍♀️ At least it cured her of her overconfidence (though now my back is protesting about the cling on action)

Piggywaspushed · 12/06/2021 18:07

Anyone heard what has happened at the Denmark game? That's one of DSs favourite players. Hope he's OK.

Just saw it happen. It's awful. His wife on the pitch. So sad.
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/06/2021 18:16

Been out a day but just seen the message on Twitter. Awful. Hopefully, he’ll pull through like Muamba did.

StaffRepFeistyClub · 12/06/2021 18:19

Its a get out so that an Economics teacher don't have to get their hands dirty and teach Business/whatever as well.

We have one of those at our place. Can only teach sixth form, can only teach economics and no cant run any clubs - a lazy fxxxker! (IMHO, of course, - guess who get lumbered with picking up the KS4 slack because they are too precious and I am full time). I have asked to see HT about this as I am getting pissed off and I am scrambling around keeping Year 10 going after the TAGS nightmare whilst he faffing about now Year 13 have gone

DS white as a sheet. I wasn't watching but was when Muamba collapsed . Horrific.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/06/2021 18:24

He’s young, fit and received CPR fast so hopefully that will go in his favour.

borntobequiet · 12/06/2021 18:42

I should have said there’s nothing wrong with Economics either…

(And I have previously stated that if I had my time again I would have studied Geography. Possibly with Economics.)

ChloeDecker · 12/06/2021 18:45

Absolutely-completely agree but to get a gong for it out of everyone else in education?! Bit surprised that’s all!

ChloeDecker · 12/06/2021 18:46

Really hope Eriksen is okay.

StaffRepFeistyClub · 12/06/2021 18:47

I agree there are many others in education who should be in front of a failed FT reporter who could hack teaching maths full time

Statement due shortly about it from eufa

UEFA are saying he’s stable and has been transferred to hospital which is a relief.

StaffRepFeistyClub · 12/06/2021 19:22

Game is going to re-commence
