You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

@JanFebAnyMonth

So we’d call that an interment beach, is that term used in the US? But as you say, everything’s messed up anyway! We’re hoping to have something similar to what you describe for my brother, but goodness knows when, if we want his fellow residents to be able to attend, they're all ECV.

honey you’re a concerned householder not a bleating holiday maker! Interesting about possible political background to the redlisting.

I'm actually not sure if that's the term we would use. Maybe! I'm lucky enough that this is the first time I've been an adult and had to deal with the death of a close family member.
Beachhuts90 · 04/06/2021 17:04

Noble whereabouts can one find your new thread?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/06/2021 17:11

Oh blimey. You really have brought them all out of the woodwork.

motherrunner · 04/06/2021 17:21

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

Oh blimey. You really have brought them all out of the woodwork.
And yet when there was a thread about Sir Kevan resigning it was pretty quiet.
DanglingMod · 04/06/2021 17:24

@noblegiraffe

Yes, who am I really???!

Dangling would say “an English teacher!” Grin

You're going to need a new cover story, soon.

No-one is buying the "little old me? Humble part time maths teacher?" schtick any more Grin

DanglingMod · 04/06/2021 17:25

BP raised 5000% reading that thread, BTW.

People. Cannot. Read.

noblegiraffe · 04/06/2021 17:29

I’d love to rock up to a Republic meet-up and turn out to be Helena Bonham-Carter or someone. (Not sure why her, I’ve been watching The Crown and she is rather fabulous).

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/06/2021 17:42

I don’t think I can post on it Dangling. I’m not sure I can be trusted to not get banned.

Piggywaspushed · 04/06/2021 17:44

I think you are Prof Deepta Gurdasani . I think that's an implication.

thecatfromjapan · 04/06/2021 17:50

All respect to you, Noblegiraffe, you truly don't quit.

I have to admit that I am feeling quite ground down by the relentless awfulness of the U.K. government's response to the pandemic.

But I take heart and strength from your example.

Research on educational attainment and those fuckers still refused Sir Kevan’s recommendations.

noblegiraffe · 04/06/2021 18:01

Thanks cat!

That’s a really long game the professor has played there, piggy! They must be extremely pissed off that my posting history gives every appearance of being a part-time maths teacher. (Not sure about the ‘humble’, Dangling Wink )

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/06/2021 18:10

I've just engaged on work for next week. Oh dear... maths obs on Wednesday, no boards done before end of term (no idea what to put on them, we're doing a curriculum mopping up/revision term), haven't planned any English writing (I'm doing it for the whole phase - my turn), haven't started reports. Woohoo.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/06/2021 18:11

But, France will let us in double vaxed as of 9th June. Glad I didn't cancel my chunnel ticket.. just in case.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2021 18:17

But will we be allowed back in here? Guessing it's amber? Could maybe go to my sister's place in Nimes but I believe we have to have a letter of approval from the local mayor to visit our relatives now Hmm

Monkeytennis97 · 04/06/2021 18:21

Signing in. Thanks Staff!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/06/2021 18:21

It is amber. Now Portugal’s been taken off the list I think everywhere left on the green list is now places that won’t let you in or will only let you in if double vaxxed.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/06/2021 18:25

But will we be allowed back in here?

Not yet. Johnson is going to fold on anything sensible though right? If no one ends up being able to go abroad due to HIS decision, he'll be unpopular, and he doesn't like that.

I believe we have to have a letter of approval from the local mayor to visit our relatives now

Yep. Can't go for a wander in Europe (officially) either. Need bookings.

namechangedyetagain · 04/06/2021 18:27

Can I pop in and have a quick panic? Being formally observed on my first ever time lesson next week . Not planned anything. Nor for English. Or phonics. Or finished my folder despite working on it for two days.

Aaaarrrrrgggghhhh.

Have given up for tonight in the hope that the planning will suddenly come to me whilst drinking gin.

I'm still completely in awe of you doing all of this without even thinking!

ChloeDecker · 04/06/2021 18:32

name I k is it is easier said than done and it’s not nice being observed but just try to do what you would normally do and make sure you show some evidence of the target you have been given for that observation.

You’ll be fine!

namechangedyetagain · 04/06/2021 18:47

I think it's teaching time that I'm most scared about. Wide range in the class (pre key stage to gd) and i don't always have a TA. It's tricky. It's my moderation observation so I want it to be ok. Ive got myself in a tizz about it all so much so I cant think clearly!

HarrietDVane · 04/06/2021 18:49

Hello all - thanks for the new thread! Place marking while I catch up Smile

@MrsHamlet Swear our PE teachers all stick Just Dance on YouTube and leave the kids to it whilst they put their feet up Grin

Ours are all Heads of Year so thankfully, have the time to do that. No one else in every other dept even goes for those jobs in my school anymore Grin
