You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Year 9 in an upper school are often ridiculously annoying. I like year 11 and 13.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 20:03

I'm being good, Jan! I missed what that deleted post said though, was it someone being charming?

Is there any school where current Y7 aren't feral? It seems like a real issue.

Piggywaspushed · 06/06/2021 20:06

I've just been to get DS from uni. It's only 1h 45 drive but I am exhausted. Might need to concede I'm not terribly tip top . Torrents of terrifying rain on the way home at one point too.

Piggywaspushed · 06/06/2021 20:12

I think deleted post was pro noble.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 20:15

Pro me or anti the other?

Would be odd to delete a post that says I'm ace. I don't think that's against the talk guidelines.

DanglingMod · 06/06/2021 20:18

Our year 7 isn't feral. Normal numbers of slightly cheeky ones but otherwise gorgeous. Year 8, on the other hand Confused.

Piggywaspushed · 06/06/2021 20:21

Well, yes anti t'other.

JanFebAnyMonth · 06/06/2021 20:23

Maybe MNHQ will inset a special paragraph in the Guidelines about what to do if you find yourself in the vicinity of @noblegiraffe

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 20:25

Like 'your majesty' on first meeting, then 'ma'am' thereafter, sort of thing, Jan? Wink

HarrietDVane · 06/06/2021 20:35

I think you just might be MN Royalty, Noble!

namechangedyetagain · 06/06/2021 20:38

Oh no. I have been very unprofessional and messaged my mentor having a bit of a breakdown.

Feel bloody awful now.

MrsHamlet · 06/06/2021 20:39

Why do you feel awful?

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 20:44

I always thought MN Royalty was 'been here ages, prolific poster, bit of a dick', Harriet

.....oh.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 20:44

Name that's what the mentor is there for, to support you?

CallmeHendricks · 06/06/2021 20:59

I can remember the post but couldn't work out who it was talking about.

cantkeepawayforever · 06/06/2021 20:59

@CallmeHendricks

I'm primary but you wouldn't think it to meet me. I reckon id fit in much better at secondary. I never venture lower than Yr 4 and also look at reception teachers with awe. They're so bloody cheerful!!!
Callmehendricks, me too! Though for historical reasons, reception teachers inhabit a whole different building elsewhere so I seldom have to worry about how morose I am in comparison.....

In other news, I think I have crafted a seating plan that Every Single Child will hate. There may be tears....

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/06/2021 21:03

This place needs a block button for people like that - the ones who don't read or are in no position to have their mind changed. Ever.

My seating plan involves all the kids who need support on the front row, so I can whiz up and down on my wheelie chair like a motorised whack a mole.

MrsHamlet · 06/06/2021 21:05

Would you like to borrow my special whacking stick? It was once a bodge job on a fan but now it lives by my desk so I can waft it about like Macbeth's dagger.

ChloeDecker · 06/06/2021 21:07

Deleted post didn’t have a name it referred to but an icon of a spider and ‘look who crawled out of the woodwork’. Genuinely wasn’t sure who it was for!

CallmeHendricks · 06/06/2021 21:11

"My seating plan involves all the kids who need support on the front row, so I can whiz up and down on my wheelie chair like a motorised whack a mole."

Me too! I was awarded a wheelie chair to scuttle about on a few years ago when I had a broken leg, and no way in hell am I giving it up!

MsAwesomeDragon · 06/06/2021 21:16

I'd like a wheelie chair!! I haven't got one, and no likelihood of me ever getting one. Unless I defect to computing full time, but I don't think I'd like that.

All my seating plans have the weakest kids on the front row though, with the very weakest being in the very middle of the front row so I barely have to move at all to get to them.

JanFebAnyMonth · 06/06/2021 21:17

Oh that was the deleted post, thought I’d missed it. No I wasn’t sure whose ‘side’ they were on. The spider was a bit yuk.

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 21:18

Weird post and even weirder that anyone reported it for deletion and it was deleted.

namechangedyetagain · 06/06/2021 21:19

Awful because I should be able to do everything no trouble now. And I have an outline for the next 2 weeks, but not fully written up slides resources etc. And i bothered her on a Sunday 😭

I've missed the other thread as I don't venture out of here much.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/06/2021 21:28

I should be able to do everything no trouble now.

I can't do everything no trouble NOW. I've had to label one of my lesson notebooks for Wednesday with 'NOT FINISHED' so no one uses it, because it needs me to ask some questions of the English lead.
