First in tops up the gin supplies and turns on the tea urn.

It introduces bias, Jan

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/09/2021 18:56

My key stage is a 'bubble' anyway, in so much as they exist now. I'll be really happy if assemblies can go back to normal in acouple of weeks, I get that half an hour 'off' to prep.

Piggywaspushed · 01/09/2021 19:22

Yes, anything that low is generally problematic. Normally, they'd think of ways of incentivising response.

JanglyBeads · 01/09/2021 20:00

I tried to read the actual study but it wouldn’t open on my phone.

HarrietDVane · 01/09/2021 20:19

Well done Rule! As far as I know we're back to full assemblies from Monday. I'm not wild about it from a safety point of view.

Mistressiggi · 01/09/2021 20:45

So many pupils isolating now. Since they only need to isolate for roughly two days (to get tested and get results) I have to assume a good number of them actually have Covid. Feel very resigned to getting it now.
Hope the back to school nerves aren't too bad for you all Daffodil

phlebasconsidered · 01/09/2021 20:46

We are back to normal. No cleaning, full mixing, whole school out at lunch, full assemblies. It will be a shitstorm. Head was very explicit that family contacts ill with it still mean we are ok to go in.

If my area was low, fair enough. But it isn't.

DanglingMod · 01/09/2021 20:52

Are any areas low?

JanglyBeads · 01/09/2021 20:52

Wow mistress... and phleb.

Hope you stay safe Mistress and Dolly (to resurrect that memory, altho you didn’t have to bear Boris’s pithy encouragements north of the border!)

hedgehogger1 · 01/09/2021 20:53

I was reading a thread where someone wrote to the head and told them they'd be responsible for any COVID issues. Then my phone froze and now I can't find it. Anyone know where it is please?

ChloeDecker · 01/09/2021 21:14

Pretty much the same at my school too Sad
DollyMixtureLulus · 01/09/2021 21:16

We have so many children with two positive parents. In school. It's madness.

I'm feeling a bit resigned to it as well.

Mistressiggi · 01/09/2021 21:30

How do you know about the parents, Dolly? Do the pupils tell you?
We still have pupils cleaning desks, reduced size assemblies, sanitising, pcr for contacts oh and of course, masks. Still loads of bloody Covid! Though a contact now is someone you've had a sleep over with rather than someone you sit next to for an hour in several classes.

DollyMixtureLulus · 01/09/2021 21:48

It's all through going home arrangements, Mistress. Ours very rarely go home alone, even in 7, so we're getting messages hourly that so and so will be walking home as Mum and Dad are isolating.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/09/2021 21:49

We're still cleaning, masks, staggered starts (but all into the same playground), parents back in the playground too (boo), bigger bubbles, some areas where CEV people work are out of bounds for all (not sure this one is sustainable to be honest), and in a town where there was a major kids festival this weekend. Rates are rising, obviously. Masks are 'advised', but no one was wearing one today. At all.

Everyone else was 'fine' with assemblies - why?? I managed to get us 2 weeks by saying things like "I know what the guidance says, so I know I don't have a leg to stand on, but..."

I hope I'm proven wrong, but I'll feel loads better if we just have 2 weeks grace.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/09/2021 22:01

So we are back to full not staggered school day. Personal choice re wearing masks. Keeping yeargroup to separate tables at lunch and separate zones at playtime. But we are going to restart phase assemblies but not the whole school yet.
Swimming can go ahead. As can trips.

But we can't use the staffroom. And there will be no singing in assembly.

noblegiraffe · 01/09/2021 22:13

I’ve no idea what we’re doing, I think we find out tomorrow in our whole staff briefing with us all in the hall…I’m suspecting back to normal tbh. We never did any cleaning desks anyway and no kids in masks at all since May.

CallmeHendricks · 01/09/2021 22:31

Is this the longest spell we've had in the broom cupboard so far?

JanglyBeads · 01/09/2021 22:39

Yes maybe we can hide in here and no one will find us??

(Hope Staff is OK she seems to have disappeared!)

noblegiraffe · 01/09/2021 22:46

It’s a bit undignified, tbh. Hope Staff is on a last minute holiday.

WhenSheWasBad · 01/09/2021 22:49

I’m hoping staff is ok too.

I’m also feeling resigned to catching it. No one is in masks at my school. One woman seemed to be suffering from a horrid snotty cold.
Everyone is mixing again, it’s back as normal. I’m teaching tomorrow and feel beyond unprepared.

Hercisback · 01/09/2021 22:50

I'm staying awake in a futile attempt to extend my holiday. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? wasted time on BS INSET

eitak22 · 01/09/2021 23:02

Back to whole school assemblies here and mixed year groups at breaktime. No more rows in classrooms but recommended to wear masks when moving so least thats something I guess. Weirdly calm about it all but sure I'll feel worse when children start telling me family members have got it.

Mistressiggi · 02/09/2021 06:18

Ds with bad diarrhoea this morning - is that a stay off school thing? Probably is, even if not a Covid thing. I have to decide, dh would just send him in for an easy life no doubt.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/09/2021 06:28

Diarrhoea or sickness is meant to be 48hr off school/work here but not sure how many follow that. Has he been several times?

Well done Rule for buying some time.
