Sorry can’t help but would love to know! I hate how it just disappeared and I wasn’t even that regular but really helped me through my PGCE

YawnyOwl · 28/05/2021 20:25

I loved getting a taste for what life was like in different schools, with absolutely no bullshit! There's nothing like it that I've found

Lots of subject related Facebook groups and Edutwitter. Neither are very gossipy, though.

Short answer: no.

All you will find now is TES on facebook - which is essentially debate free, and merely advertising and cheap 'journalism'.

Forums exist, and the closest you'll find (one which consists of approximately 50 old members), is application only (take your chances), and is closed to the public; i.e. no guests allowed.

In today's Woke United Kingdom, free and open debate is challenged to the extreme, and no forum is prepared to open themselves up to being sued by a deliberately offended lefty.

This is the closest we'll get to what you want, and even here, the debate is decidedly beige.

Yes, well it is repeated on Facebook and Twitter, where certain subjects considered off-message (largely those right of centre) are removed, and the posters subjected to banning. When Germaine Greer is subjected to similar treatment, as was attempted against her by Cardiff University in 2015, you know that something has gone badly wrong with freedom of expression. The list of prominent posters on Twitter recently subjected to cancelling is a long one; these forums are heading the same way, as the two long threads deleted this afternoon suggests.

As I said on the thread in AIBU, I'm surprised MNHQ haven't lost patience long before now.

YawnyOwl · 01/06/2021 22:34

Patience with what? This is all very cryptic...

Lost patience with posters posting about another forum, giving links to another forum and setting up a forum within a forum. It’s disrespectful to mn and I’m amazed they’ve let it stand so long.

Hi. Try the link that's already been posted. Lots of people enjoy the new forum, some aren't happy with it. Try it for yourself and make your own mind up.
MichaelMumsnet · 02/06/2021 13:16

Hi all, we've received a number of reports about posts on this thread so we're just dropping by to clarify our approach..

We do allow Mumsnetters to link to sites which other members might find useful.

However, we will remove posts which are simply rehashing arguments from other sites, contain personal attacks or are just plain troll hunting - Mumsnetters find this kind of thing tiresome and we get even more reports. So if you see this type of activity here then please let us know - we're always fine to take a look.

JebelSherif · 02/06/2021 16:13

Help please... @MichaelMumsnet what is 'troll hunting'?

There's the teachingUK forum on Reddit...

BlueMediterranean · 07/06/2021 13:06

Hey, I signed for the new forum and looks like I've been banned...any idea why? I didn't post anything Confused

YawnyOwl · 07/06/2021 15:54

If you used the same username you used in tes that might be why apparently they're quite strict

OP posts:
BlueMediterranean · 07/06/2021 16:54

No, I used a different one. Looks like I can't create a new account :(
