When teaching letter recognition - do you start with upper or lower case, or a mix of both?

Lower. Avoid upper for a while.

Lower. We teach sounds rather than letter name recognition first as well.

Thank you both, this is what I thought however, today someone told me upper case is taught first.

It is for learning letter sounds rather than writing.

Who told you this?

Lower case first always. I didn’t introduce capital letters until last term!

Surely learning the sound and the the writing go hand in hand? I teach the sound and how to form it (in my case a RWI rhyme)
