I am thinking about teaching overseas possibly Thailand or Spain (in British Schools). I am married with 2 young children. I just wondered if anyone had done this with a family and the pros and cons. I am currently applying for jobs literally everywhere ! Out of the 5billion schools I have applied to, I have had a first and second interview with 2 schools.

Competitive salary differs drastically and I know in Thailand it depends on what tier of school. Some jobs pay very little even with a low cost of living whilst others pay big bucks . Whatever school you choose to apply for definitely do your research on it and what people say about it.

In the very little interviews I had I found it deeply frustrating that none of them were clear about the package. In fact they didn’t even address it so I had to (uncomfortably) ask. Don’t know if that is routine?

With two kids though I definitely think it’s a great opportunity to travel and expose your children to different cultures. I would jump at the opportunity! Problem is I have 3 kids and most schools are reluctant to take on me and my kids. An agent actually told me I had too many kids! 😱
