How to discuss money

Hi everyone, I have just had an interview for a job. I have quite a lot of experience and am on M6 with a small TLR. If I am offered the job how do I discuss money? I would like the school to match or better what I am being paid. How have people approached this in the past?

Hopefully you'll experience what I have, where a job will either match or better current pay OR it will be equal or more after cost of living difference when moving location. If not, I try to wait for them to bring up what they want to pay and then just say, 'oh, no, with my skills and experience XX,XXX would be more appropriate.' and see how it goes. 'i couldn't go less than' etc also works. "If xx,xxx is all you can afford, that can be a pro rata salary for me working X days a week" or something cheeky has actually also worked for me before, but that was before teaching when I worked in industry.
