EYFS interview lesson ideas

Hi! I have an interview for an EYFS teacher job and the school has asked me to do a 20 minute lesson with a small group of Reception pupils. Has anyone got any ideas of what I could do?

Have you had the lesson yet?

Twenty minutes’ do you have a brief of any sort?

A story sack? Puppets, props, a task within the story, predicting what could happen next? Some kind of creative idea to go with it (drawing or making something from the story or a challenge - for example colouring in an Elma but having none of the sides touch a matching colour, use some fancy words like vertices and make it a maths and listening task)

Phonics bingo - especially of you can establish what phonics program they use

Role play - create a shop and focus on adding (paying for products) and taking away (money from a purse)
You can print off a stack of stuff for something like that by signing up to Twinkl.

Writing tasks will be trickier to plan of you don’t know the ability group (some will be starting joined up writing and forming sentences and some will still be doing basic letter formation) but if you want to do writing of some sort perhaps plan for all levels.

Best of luck!
