In short term I have had long covid; my Gp wrote a letter a few weeks ago at my cost to my employer saying I was now fit to work but needed to be at home as I was shielding. They declined this so I was at home not working on half pay. I am due to now return on Monday 12th after the Easter holidays. I asked (assumed) I would be on full pay from 1st April as I was returning after; HR have said no and I appreciate the burgundy book does say if you off sick on 31/3 you stay on half pay until return. My argument is I’m not sick; the doctor has told them I can work: the reason I can’t return on the 31/3 (other than the fact it’s the holidays )is the government have mandated shielding. I’ve offered to do significant work and even go in if they want but can’t due to building work. Anyone got any idea am I being unreasonable on this one?
