Help finding primary teacher role in London?

Hey all

I moved to West London from Canada in 2018. I've been teaching long-term supply in three schools over the last three academic years, paid daily through an agency. I'm now looking for a permanent role in Reception class ideally.

How does job search for primary teaching roles usually work here? I've looked online for the last month or so on jobsites, council sites and agencies... there really haven't been that many jobs up. Applied for a couple and heard nothing back. Now going into Easter I'm getting really nervous that time is running out! Desperate to start a permanent role so me and DH can get a mortgage next year, also I want to feel settled in my career.

Any advice please? Confused

I assume you’re looking on TES? Good luck - it’s so stressful looking for a job.

Have you tried individual academy websites?

You may need to go to the school websites themselves. Do some research on schools near you and then check the websites for vacancies.

Thanks all. Yes have looked on TES but not individual academy/school websites. Will start doing that now.

Have I missed the peak period for primary recruitment? I’m getting worried I won’t find anything in time. When do primary jobs start coming up?

My school has finished its recruitment now but others should still have ads up I think.

Look on the eteach website.

Ime the peak recruitment period tends to be from Feb - May as the resignation deadline is 31st May to leave on 31st August. There are even some jobs still advertised in June but usually only for NQTs or teachers on supply etc ie those not already on a permanent contract.

Good luck! It's as competitive market out there right now 🤞

You can also look on the borough websites eg jobs.ealing.gov.uk/ealing-school-filter/
Many resignations happen close to May 31st, so lots of jobs will be advertised in June.
