Union case worker

Hi all; has anyone had a union case worker represent them? She has suggested I just leave it to her and she will start with the softly softly regime. Main problems I am shielding but on half pay after 6 months of covid pneumonia. Other colleagues shielding are on full payment. Secondly I am not allowed back to work despite a GP note saying I am able to work (just needs to be at home until shielding ends. They say we have to wait for occ health which isn’t until June. I hate the idea of rubbishing my relationship but not one member of HRstaff could tell me how roughly much money I was going to get end of month or the fact they use SSP in 2nd 6 months to help them pay half pay. I’m so torn about whether to get the union involved.

Why aren't you allowed back if you have a fit note? Are you on the shielding list? If so you should be WFH on full pay.

Get the union involved. This is what you pay your fees for.

Definitely get the union involved.

Just to update anyone interested; I got the union case worker on it...work came back with basically the message that me teaching remotely would be disruptive and there was nothing resource wise I could create 🙁 which is ridiculous but unless I took an employment lawyer my union said they could do that and pay me half pay. Returning physically after Easter; thrilled I’m also on half pay for the Easter break now despite dr’s note saying I’m fit because I’m shielding so not in school on 31/3 when the absence year rolls over. It just seems so unfair
