My place of work is a joke

I work in FE and am furious with management right now.

Students who have done little to know work, kicking up a fuss about having to do testing and management deal with it by suggesting tutor assessed grade! So by rewarding their lack of effort!

This happens alot. Always looking for the easiest way out. As long as they get the money they don't care about the qualifications.
A student told me that she cheated with her level 2 qualification and that she would drop off the course if not allowed to do the same for this one. Management are bending over backwards to help her!

There are then people who have been attending and doing their best for weeks, need support but cannot have it because "we don't have the resources".

I am fed up of it. I want out. It's not about the students anymore.

Is anyone else finding their FE place like this?

I worked in a 6th form college that was like this. I taught a lot of BTEC and the cheating between students was rife. I had one with 28% attendance for no reason other than he couldn't be arsed to turn up. He had final warning after final warning from management but they kept him and piled pressure on us to get him to a pass standard.

I left after a few years and went back to working in a school - best thing I ever did. I wouldn't go back to the post 16 sector for anything!

It truly is awful. I will be leaving as soon as I can.
Emails yesterday went round about someone kicking off about a girl who didn't "want to sit in a room full of people who might have covid" to be tested as she worked in a nursery (apprentice) and so won't come into college. She rarely came in prepandemic anyway!
Their response - can we put her through tutor assessment? Surely you just tell her to test at home???
