TA to teacher again?

I’m a primary teacher but have taken a TA job this year, due to wanting a bit more of a work/life balance and my DH’s job being very full on due to Covid. I’m in a school I like and enjoy the job and lack of stress but I do think I want to go back to teaching in the next year or two. Do you think this year (or more) will count against me? I’m worried I’ve messed up my CV now and will be less employable. If a job came up in my current school I would definitely apply but maybe they don’t see me as a teacher as I’ve come in as a TA?! I know I was a good teacher and also valued by SMT/pupils etc but obviously they don’t know that!
Has anyone successfully gone back to teaching after time as a TA?

I would hope that if you explain that your DH was having to work longer hours due to Covid and you therefore needed a temporary break from teaching, any decent HT wouldn't hold it against you.

I think 1 year out of the classroom isn't a big drama - there are loads of reasons why people take time out completely, and you've still been in the education environment which is an advantage.
I had nearly two years out at one point as I bumbled round the world with my DHs job looking after my DC. For similar reasons I have a period of choppiness/short contracts on my CV but it has never stopped me from picking up another job - I think teaching is pretty flexible really.
Anecdotally my friend just had 8 years out raising her DC and starts a new job in April that she didn't have too much trouble securing. I wouldn't worry in your shoes.

I had a year as a TA when my two were babies. Found a job straight away.

5 years out when children were small. Took a TA post in a local school to get back into the education world, was employed as a teacher in same school after 2 terms. So it's perfectly possible - just be prepared to explain your reason for dropping to TA and also for now wanting to return to being a teacher.

Update: I applied for a teaching job at another school for September and been offered it! I’m delighted and relieved. Thanks to all of you who replied.
