aaah.. Please someone punctuate the following for me. I feel it needs a semi colon after the first sentence, but then the second bit isn't a full sentence. Maybe it's a list? Expert help please.

Since starting here I have been both saddened and uplifted by the work in tier four. Saddened by witnessing the trauma, distress and sometimes hopelessness of the young people we work with, but uplifted by the compassion, skill and thoughtfulness of the staff as well as the resilience, courage and capacity for change of the young people and their families.

I think it should be a colon rather than a semi colon

Fifthtimelucky · 16/02/2021 15:56

Personally I'd use a dash here.

Colon after four.

RegentsParkWolf · 16/02/2021 17:55

After reading the advice I have a plan: use a colon and thank everyone for their advice. (See what I did there?)

I would add a comma for your fronted adverbial.
