Anyone used Reddit for teaching advice

If so did you find it useful. I found the mods to be a bit rude tbh and the community unsupportive

I agree, I have been banned for a day because I commented on someone being upset about their PGCE placement. I was told that I don't have the right to comment as I am not doing a PGCE. It was a shame as the OP was distressed and I was reassuring them. I know someone reported me and I have blocked them now. The person that I blocked I saw some of their other posts and seem to talk down to people and dismiss them for having a different viewpoint. Stick to this group and Facebook groups, the people are far more understanding.

Let me guess is it the moderator of the sub who’s username begins with a z. She blocked me too

Yes, the person who is ‘Z’ banned my PGCE post last time. I don’t know who this is as it just says ‘a moderator’ for the is time round. The message is:

As a prospective PGCE student with no teaching experience you need to ensure that you are not offering advice that is beyond the scope of your experience. At the moment this is not the case. It is inappropriate for you to comment on interactions between PGCE students and mentors because you have no experience of either role. Please take this on board. If your current posting habits continue, you will (unfortunately) be permanently banned from the sub. We are not a place for people to LARP as teachers and we try our best to ensure that advice given in our community is credible and well informed.

I don’t really understand Reddit. Where are the education posts?

I have to agree with the moderator
