You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

‘Open the schools sooner than March’ seems a bit at odds with ‘more postcodes need to stay at home because of scary variants’

chocolateisavegetable · 04/02/2021 16:37

Drive I hope your DS will recover soon and that you will remain well

Noble Yesterday Boris ruled out re-opening schools earlier than 8th March. Oh bugger - they're going to open earlier aren't they?

Sorry if this has already been posted and I missed it - copied it from another thread. Rather worrying about long-term Covid in children www.msn.com/en-gb/health/familyhealth/scientists-say-children-should-be-vaccinated-against-coronavirus/ar-BB1djTXt?ocid=msedgdhp

SansaSnark · 04/02/2021 16:38

The absolute denial about children spreading covid is scary.

SansaSnark · 04/02/2021 16:39

Doing online parents evening, already had two no shows tonight. It's really annoying because I feel tied to my laptop in case they do show up.

Mistressiggi · 04/02/2021 16:45

@noblegiraffe that half screen thing is amazing. How did I never know that? Don't think my colleagues did either as we have been getting dual monitors set up in school etc. speechless!

CookEatRepeat · 04/02/2021 16:46

I'm a bubbling ball of blimmin' fury just now. I've been in school throughout. Our 11 pupil five adult bubble has closed because 4 of the children have now tested positive. Of course children don't spread it...

Mistressiggi · 04/02/2021 16:47

Dh is having a nap but I want to wake him up just to show him.Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 04/02/2021 16:52

Is it as revolutionary as discovering the space bar on an iphone is a mouse? That one literally changed my life Grin

Sorry about your bubble Cook. Hope you got lucky and didn't catch it.

Yup.Sad
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/02/2021 16:59

It is honey. Someone showed me at work the other day when I was trying to compare documents on different screens.

I still miss my second screen though.

RandomGrammarPun · 04/02/2021 17:00

Now that's one thing I noticed the kids at school do know how to do.

WhenSheWasBad · 04/02/2021 17:10

Don’t be silly chocolate the government would never u turn on something so important........... oh wait.

Yeah schools open by 22nd Feb. Loads of kids isolating by April and numbers in hospital rocketing up again for May.

Mistressiggi · 04/02/2021 17:10

Don't rain on my parade Honey!
hides fact she has no idea how that works

namechangedyetagain · 04/02/2021 17:14

Home, planning to do but feel so tired I need to sleep. Being observed on English tomorrow (my least favourite thing) and feel i need to make it exciting. Not seen my mentor much this week and feel a bit low, as previously mentioned.

I really want to do this but I feel ive run out of oomph. Nanna nap time I think before I have to make dinner and supervise brownies.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/02/2021 17:14

Is the lateral flow test all about prodding your tonsils? Or is it just nose?

TheHoneyBadger · 04/02/2021 17:17

You literally hold the space bar down and then you can move your cursor around. Used to drive me insane having to delete a whole line to get back to a mistake.

No idea how to do split screens though - I'll ask one of the kids to show me.

Saucery · 04/02/2021 17:24

Both.
HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 04/02/2021 17:25

Split screens using the windows button and arrow keys, as long as you're on a PC.

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/02/2021 17:26

dreaming my mum isn't on Mumsnet, but if you're on the woolly hugs FB page you'll recognise my mum, and my 2 aunts. They are prolific posters on there.

I really don't want schools to reopen too soon and be back to the in and out nature of closing bubbles!! But it does look like they're trying to push us in that direction doesn't it? I mean, I hate remote learning, it's crap for all concerned, but it's better than being in school with no measures to protect us from infection.

My favourite keyboard shortcut is Windows key + shift + S = new snipping tool. Essential for popping screenshots of instructions in chat super quickly!

Lockdown is getting to me. I’ve reached a new low. I voluntarily went out for a run. It was that or a nap. But now I feel entitled to a wine tonight!

Ha ha! That has pleased me!

How dull has my life become?

Omg! Tragically this is some of the most exciting stuff in weeks! fml

Seriously I was a slim, adventurous, well travelled diving instructor with a string of talented, gorgeous but brief (my choice) boyfriends 5 minutes ago. I wake up and I'm a fat middle aged teacher and mum who gets excited about screen short cuts and has just bought my first pack of full briefs in my M&S shop.

I need more gin.

JanuaryChill · 04/02/2021 17:44

Grinhoney (hopefully no weird formatting there?)

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 04/02/2021 17:45

Ha I love the snipping shortcut too.

If anyone's using desmos as a MWB then the quickest way to create questions as images is to save a ppt as a jpeg and each slide becomes an image.
