You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Starting to feel as though I may have given the past few weeks worth of lessons in another language for all the response I am getting

45 republics in 10 months! Thanks Staff.

Mistressiggi · 02/02/2021 13:12

Greetings
Have been in such a bad mood today and I think waiting for the axe to fall (new announcement on when we will go back in Scotland) is a big part of why

JanuaryChill · 02/02/2021 13:16

Thanks staff.
Sounds reasonable mistress.

MrsHamlet · 02/02/2021 13:24

I'm cold and I'm fed up and I don't want to play any more.
I'm going to hide behind the copier to avoid my cover lesson this afternoon. If anyone asks, you've not seen me

MsAwesomeDragon · 02/02/2021 13:35

Yay, a new staffroom. Checking in. Thanks staff.

It's snowing here, but it's far too wet for it to lie. It's putting me off going for a walk this afternoon though.

Mistressiggi · 02/02/2021 13:38

Thank you for the thread Flowers (what was there before the first one? Just fields?!)

TheHoneyBadger · 02/02/2021 13:41

Seen who?

I am under my duvet with a woolly hat on I'm so cold. Ds claims it's really hot in here Hmm It does actually save me money because his radiator has to be turned off even in the thick of winter and he keeps his door closed to avoid the heat getting in.

Thanks for new thread. I'm a bit glum today. Landlady has announced rent increase from March 1st which irked me and a weird work message that feels accusatory but probably isn't. Very low energy and just feel like scoffing fatty salty food and swigging gin then going to bed early.

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/02/2021 13:41

Thanks for thread!

Been for my eye screening - set cover (well independent work) for this afternoon and typing on my phone 1 cm from my nose 🤣

RigaBalsam · 02/02/2021 13:44

Thanks Staff

CarrieBlue · 02/02/2021 13:45

Thanks for the new thread - I just need to get this out ‘SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP’ AngryAngryAngry

I’ve been not posting that elsewhere.

As you were.

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/02/2021 13:52

rule I know it isn’t funny but I did laugh at your class and the polls 🤣

WhenSheWasBad · 02/02/2021 14:00

Thanks for the thread.

I’m so pissed off today. Year 11s not submitting work.

Year 7s working on a laptop and taking a photo of the screen and submitting that?

I’m so fed up of this.

Cracklefraggle · 02/02/2021 14:03

How do stop a kid kicking others out of teams lessons? I know who it is and have threatened them with a suitable amount of violence Angry

TheHoneyBadger · 02/02/2021 14:03

Yeah I'd have left it up and said it was a brain break strategy Rule.

MsAwesomeDragon · 02/02/2021 14:04

I feel your pain when. I have one child who never sends me any work but sends a screenshot of my video to prove he watched it, lol. He genuinely seems to think this is what I want from him, and never responds to individual emails.

Monkeytennis97 · 02/02/2021 14:21

Hello all😊

Frlrlrubert · 02/02/2021 14:26

Another year nine class with 'I can't hear or see anything!!'

Contact. IT. Support.

Year 7 mums 'here is Florence's work from last week, I've been trying to email it to you but was sending it to the wrong address, she did it on time.'

I've posted the answers, mark your own. P.S. you're not mean to email it to me, there's an app for that! Contact. IT. Support. If your SMHW won't let you submit. P.P.S. Florence should probably take a bit of responsibility for herself, maybe tell me in a live lesson she's having issues, contact me on the aforementioned homework app?

But... year 10 could see my writing tablet so that will make my life easier (though they still didn't really 'get' balancing equations, that could take a while).

Aaaaand breathe.

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/02/2021 14:27

@Cracklefraggle they need to be made attendees and not presenters.

Before a meeting click on meeting options and change who can present to only me and I’m also who can bypass lobby to only me.

During a lesson if you’ve forgotten to do it before you can change individual kids by clicking the three dots next to their name.

Or click on the three dots next to participants and manage permissions and change as above.

Does that make sense?

I think you need to go to the three dots (more actions)

Click on meeting options. At the bottom it says - Who can present?

If you change that to only me it should stop everyone kicking people out.

If I’ve got that wrong hopefully someone will correct me soon.

noblegiraffe · 02/02/2021 14:39

God we all sound fed-up today. I was thinking it was because it was Wednesday but then figured out it’s only Tuesday. How can that be??

Those people who keep suggesting that we teach through half term or Easter or whatever don’t realise it would lead to no additional learning as neither teachers nor pupils would have the energy.

RigaBalsam · 02/02/2021 14:40

Ground hog day today and it certainly feels like it.

EvilEdnasEnemiesOfEducation · 02/02/2021 14:40

Need to disown eldest child. Sent him out for supplies and the 'treat ' he brings back amongst the essential stuff is naked bars. I'll eat pretty much anything but they are most definitely not food, let alone a treat. Hmm

Mistressiggi · 02/02/2021 14:47

We're having some kind of phased return (exam years) from the 22nd Feb. Early learning and p1-3 full time.
Testing made available in secondary.
Nothing about vaccines.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 02/02/2021 14:53

@TheHoneyBadger

Yeah I'd have left it up and said it was a brain break strategy Rule.
Say it's Philosophy for children.

Thanks for the new thread, Staff.

Also, can't remember who it was that recommended Queen's gambit, but thanks for that too.
