Holiday pay/sick pay with covid at Christmas

I am a lassroom TA and my contract requires me to take my annual leave in school holiday. I got Covid FROM SCHOOL (ugh) then had to spend Boxing Day through to Nightmare/Panic Day (you all know which one I am talking about) alone in my bedroom to protect my vulnerable child. Every other job I have ever had let you take sick days and sort of revert back your holiday if you were verifiably ill during annual leave. Would it be unreasonable to ask whether I can have that holiday pay back or extra holiday days? I have never worked in a school before so I don't know whether I would get laughed out of the room.

I've only heard of TA contracts that are part year ie 39 teaching weeks plus maybe the odd training day. However they are paid in 12 equal instalments.

Is your contract is worded that you have to take 13 weeks annual leave in school holiday time or that you have a more normal 25 leave days that you have a to book off?

It sounds like you have an unusual contract.

I think it would be unusual to be repaid either in money or time missed holiday due to illness if you only work term time.

I know holiday repays happens in other industries and the public sectors like the NHS.
