You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

How are you going to know anything if it’s not in a knowledge organiser?

I could ask the twits...
SoFranCisco · 19/01/2021 20:44

Our primary started LFT last week - had my second one today - but not in school or at home - instead we have been going to the middle school up the road - I assume they had more tests than they needed once year 7/8 depleted by partial closures. I heard we were getting our own tests in the longer term, but will be much relieved if it doesn’t happen instead of isolating! Don’t mind doing them on the off chance of them picking up an asymptomatic staff case, but any other use seems far too risky.

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 19/01/2021 20:52

This is now much parents value teachers:

One class closes due to positive case. Already two staff members have passed away.
Parent of a child who has tested positive and who also works from home: Can the older sibling come to school still?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/01/2021 20:56

You could if you were a sadist MrsH. Are you channelling noble?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/01/2021 20:57

FGS Vladimir do some people not think at all.

MrsHamlet · 19/01/2021 20:58

noble is my spirit animal

Monkeytennis97 · 19/01/2021 20:59

@VladimirCutiePutiPie sorry but I'm going there. Wankers.

‘Sadist’, ‘troll’, ‘twat’ I’ve been called, just on this thread Shock

You lot make U4T look friendly and full of compliments! 😂

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/01/2021 21:05

You have to admit, you do like starting threads on the Covid board. Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/01/2021 21:07

High Priestess of misinformation was a compliment though. It just wasn’t meant to be.

TrashedWarrior · 19/01/2021 21:08

Lft, staff only.

Put it in a knowledge organiser and file it under B (for bin.)

TheHoneyBadger · 19/01/2021 21:14

Lfts for teachers who want them so far. I'm not.

Still annoyed about the number and behaviour of year 10s yesterday. I'm really not up for people shouting and storming in and out of rooms without masks on. I'm going to say enough I think and say I'm only willing to do what I'm required to do as a 0.4 with as much remote learning responsibility as a full timer. Nervous about that but meh.

I still think the lft instead of isolating will be scrapped

noblegiraffe · 19/01/2021 21:14

Dangerous High Priestess of Misinformation, actually. Running a stealth campaign to close schools.

I saved that one, it was great. Maybe I’ll get it made into a t-shirt to wear on our Egypt holiday.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/01/2021 21:19

I already got enemies of education T-shirts made Wink

TheHoneyBadger · 19/01/2021 21:21

If anyone has pm me please tell me because I'm on the crappy app on my phone that doesn't tell me. I'm having to literally not open my laptop to avoid getting sucked into work stuff.

Enemies of Education ON TOUR

Love it. Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/01/2021 21:37

My landlady’s policy of renting her flats out to a string of ‘interesting’ people seems to be continuing.

Bugger. We’d got through nearly a year of nice quiet people with no police and nobody smashing the place up.

MrsHamlet · 19/01/2021 21:40

We're an enemies of education support bubble on tour. I can't wait!

MsAwesomeDragon · 19/01/2021 21:43

honey you should definitely push back on how much you are in with the Kw kids so it's 0.4 of what ft teachers do.

Our school doesn't have many kids in at all. I think there are fewer than 20 in total, so are in a single bubble in a computer room (with a nod to social distancing between the kids). I haven't seen a rota for supervising them, so I assume I'm not on it (they would have to tell me, wouldn't they?). I think it's mostly TAs who are supervising them, but we do have enough TAs that they only need to do a half day each week. And there's a member of SLT on call for if there are any problems. I haven't heard of any behaviour issues yet, but I don't feel as if I'm hearing what's going on in school.

Fuck, have just watched an oak video on my subject, it’s shit, and the definitions don’t even match the exam board definitions
Will definitely keep on doing my own, thanks to the twats edutwitter who think they are amazing

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/01/2021 22:11

It’s a house converted into multiple flats. She owns the whole building and converted it. They have multiple properties like this.

It used to be fine but there’s less demand for renting round here now. I suspect she’s started doing something with the council to house the people they can’t house elsewhere.

Good news is they don’t seem to last more than about 6months. But lockdown’s going to make it difficult to get away from it if they are really antisocial.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 19/01/2021 22:13

Oak is very interesting....
Some of the maths stuff is fantastic and other parts are just bonkers. You need to have been indoctrinated in the oak ways to use their lessons. If you have students not used to the stuff they freak out!

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 19/01/2021 22:16

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

Oak is making me wonder whether the knowledge being accurate is an important part of a knowledge curriculum.
I have paused and corrected oak Academy a couple of times
