I have a new job starting in 6 months. Should I email the Head every month or so to touch base? What do you think?

What is the job ?
It seems an odd time to start in a school (sorry, I am assuming you are in the UK?)
Seems a long time to be appointed before starting too.

No it’s not in the UK

Is it an overseas job at an international school? I've worked in them and usually nearer the time, they will put you contact with a helpful colleague to give you advice about the school, finding a place to live and so on. Often someone is designated as the new teacher orientation person to handle all this.

It would worth emailing the head and asking if you'd be able to get in touch with the colleagues you'll be working with, e.g. your head of department or something like that.

Yes thanks, good idea. I was going to ask to be put in touch with my HoD and ask for more info about the dept and a SoW too.
