I don’t know what to do.
I want to go in, I want to be with my class, I am loyal to my school and community but I want to keep the children, their families and the staff safe.

What are you all doing?

I’m a TA, I’m going in. I joined the school a few weeks back and I am not part of a union.

I will be joining one though at some point.

Anyway,
I don’t feel brave enough not to go in without knowing staff and SLT and other dynamics etc. For all I know I could be the only staff member not going in.

I am in for Inset. I have asked to do this online in my room not the hall with everyone else. I'm going to ask questions about return and make my decision then. As I am currently nasuwt they have feebly suggested a look at my rusk assessment so I will go down that route, find out what will happen if I do section 44 (and who rlse is considering it) and make my decision then. My SLT are bullies and very unpleasant so I doubt any of it will be good.

I've just sent my letter in. I'm a TA in Unison and I believe it's the right thing to do. The government are going against scientific advice and playing with the lives of school staff in the process. I hated doing this to my colleagues and head teacher because none of this is on them and they're trying their best in difficult circumstances but I think that it's the right thing to do in the current situation.

@SeldomFollowedIt please join a union now. It's really not a good idea to work in a school without union support.

SeldomFollowedIt · 03/01/2021 12:29

@MrsHamlet

Yes thanks I have been ignorant to the importance of being in one.

MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 12:36

It surprised me to discover that the supervisor of our behaviour unit isn't in a union. Heaven forbid you should ever need them... I see mine as being like travel insurance!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 03/01/2021 12:47

So do I. And I joined a 'striking union' because otherwise what's the point!

I am going in for inset, but not otherwise.

angelhorror · 04/01/2021 02:12

In. I'm awake and terrified, my anxiety is having a field day but if I'm not earning nobody is 😢

Iamnotthe1 · 04/01/2021 06:45

I'm in. Our area is in Tier Three and we had much worse data in November. In fact, we're now one of the least infected areas. So it becomes very hard to justify sending the letter at this point. If there are changes or we see a surge then I will.

All that being said, I still feel shaky about today.

dippyegg32 · 04/01/2021 07:08

In but in an area where our cases are 700+ Sad

angelhorror · 04/01/2021 07:44

How on earth do we do this today ?

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 04/01/2021 09:18

On line INSET from home

angelhorror · 04/01/2021 23:15

Still in, we've had an email detailing who is expected in and who is doing teams lessons from home.
