You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Oh yes monkey, guess it must be. The OP hasn't given a source. Another thing no journalists have picked up on yet.

Jinglingmod · 31/12/2020 16:23

56k cases
Almost 1000 deaths Shock

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/12/2020 16:26

Bloody hell @Jinglingmod Shock

ChloeDecker · 31/12/2020 16:28

DH has received his email from his private school. Apparently, private schools have to buy their own lateral flow tests for pupils as the govt is not providing anything to private schools.

Piggyinblankets · 31/12/2020 16:33

Wow chloe Shock

RigaBalsam · 31/12/2020 16:33

Well we are all in following our timetable with the key worker kids. Y11 on teams for first week only.

MsAwesomeReindeer · 31/12/2020 16:33

We've had an email. Nobody is allowed on site next week other than emergencies and KW children (supervised by SLT). Remote learning for all, from home. This has caused ructions on our union group as quite a few of them want to be on-site for any remote teaching. I, thankfully, brought absolutely everything home for the holidays so I'm all set up for remote teaching, but have planned NOTHING!!! We're allowed to do videos rather than live, so that's what I'll be doing. I'll think about Monday's lessons on Saturday, and I might even try out desmos with year 10/12.

DecemberStar · 31/12/2020 16:36

Our Head was very "given that we're now Tier 4", CEV mustn't come in, strongly encourage you to teach from home.

Piggyinblankets · 31/12/2020 16:36

What tier are you in awesome?

Piggyinblankets · 31/12/2020 16:38

This is the angry doctor rant and it makes me feel like shit:

Monkeytennis97 · 31/12/2020 16:39

We're at home. Just phoned (other) DS as we only have one Mac here so begged him for his laptop and he is currently putting PowerPoint Teams etc on... it's all go here.

Monkeytennis97 · 31/12/2020 16:43

Don't want to ask school (I did let them know about 6 weeks ago) as DH is itching to go to work to teach remotely but I don't want him to leave the house really. Policy says live lessons. Going to be interesting!

RigaBalsam · 31/12/2020 16:45

I am literally going to be sat in classes with no children or now and then two kids.
Madness! But at least we are in eh!

Blimey. That's sobering.
But then we know this, and it's why schools should not be contributing to it either.

Did you hear him say that children were dying (in the 'whole families' bit)? Or did he mean elderly parents and their "children" who might be adults?

DecemberStar · 31/12/2020 16:55

Ange, I guess we would have heard if any child plus parent died?

ChloeDecker · 31/12/2020 16:56

Yes! Teachers have to be ‘seen’ to be working at al times, otherwise they are lazy workshy bastards but not the case for anyone else working from home of course! HmmGrin
Piggyinblankets · 31/12/2020 16:56

I don't think he meant children.

I'd like to be able to contact him and tell him a whole workforce wants to SD and wants to wear masks and isn't allowed.

Cantaloupeisland · 31/12/2020 16:59

We are all in next Monday, remote learning for all from Tuesday. So at least the million key worker kids in will have something to do. Meanwhile guessing us support staff mugs will be tasked with setting up the testing. Can't believe the media silence on the replacing isolation with dodgy tests plan. Is there any way we can all bombard the news outlets?!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/12/2020 16:59

@Piggyinblankets

pud there was an NHS worker on another thread who said they did use them instead of SI so I can't get a straight answer on that one.
Not in our NHS trust we don’t.

I believe there’s going to be a story breaking from one of the major London hospitals tonight. Hopefully it might give a few posters on the Covid boards pause for thought. Albeit probably briefly before dismissing it.

Hercwasonasnowball · 31/12/2020 17:01

Meant to say with that link...

Third incarnation of that DfE chart has appeared (see link in my last post).

Radio silence here still.

Yes, I’ve been seeing that brewing.

I want a similar ‘reveal’ to happen in schools.

SmileEachDay · 31/12/2020 17:02

We’re teaching a full TT, KW kids in room, everyone else remote. Everything live.

This is going to be a shitshow.

starrynight19 · 31/12/2020 17:04

Yea this . I want to tell him I wasn’t breaking any rules when I caught it from my class I just wasn’t allowed to protect myself.
Frlrlrubert · 31/12/2020 17:05

Finally an update (on the parents app)

Mon: inset
Tue: teams assembly for all
Wed: online learning for all, some live, some independent set work, all year groups.

Bought us an extra day there, we'll need it because we can't plan until we know WHICH lessons will be live.
