You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Outrageous.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 31/12/2020 13:00

I'm now concerned there's people watching this thread.,

Hercwasonasnowball · 31/12/2020 13:03

Is it my imagination or is that list shorter?

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 31/12/2020 13:03

I'm sure there are.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 31/12/2020 13:03

'Course there is.

SaltyAF · 31/12/2020 13:03

MNHQ does watch this thread, as do lurkers. We've been threatened before.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 31/12/2020 13:04

But fortunately, we don't scare easily.
We're teachers, after all!

Piggyinblankets · 31/12/2020 13:05

Wording on Twitter is the same but interesting how many of them claim to be Welsh and rugby fans. Work in NHS, natch. One of them claims to work in a 'mental hospital'. When was the last time anyone said that?

It's also interesting how many of them use Jenny's 'controlled environment' phrase.

Maybe Welsh, male rugby fans are a particularly callous breed...

lonelyplanet · 31/12/2020 13:05

I hope people are!!

Piggyinblankets · 31/12/2020 13:06

I don't think I had my post deleted. I innocently sued a combo of words that must be autochecked. Nothing in it at all.

Frlrlrubert · 31/12/2020 13:06
Vulnerable children include:

those who may have difficulty engaging with remote education at home (for example due to a lack of devices or quiet space to study)

I can think of at least one parent who will argue her child has 'difficulty engaging' and should be in (thought it's due to severe laziness from what I've seen).

lonelyplanet · 31/12/2020 13:06

@lonelyplanet

I hope people are!!
That was in response to Neuro
SaltyAF · 31/12/2020 13:11

So in other words, most Mumsnet children are now classed as vulnerable and they will all be in, untested.

DollyMixtureLulus · 31/12/2020 13:13

I don't know if others have found this too, but our really really vulnerable ones wouldn't come last time.

Not sure why some parents' inability to control their kids has to further increase teachers' risks.

DecemberStar · 31/12/2020 13:29

R4, good piece on schools and exams.

Head of Farnborough Sixth Form College very calm and balanced. How is she supposed to organise testing for 4000 with only a couple of webinars? MH problems of students, they need to know re exams. Her staff have been preparing for CAGs anyway, because teachers like to be well prepared.

Gav soundbite bleating about "a virus doesn't send us a message about what it's going to do next!"

No Gav. But scientists have been trying to tell you for months.

DollyMixtureLulus · 31/12/2020 13:31

I saw one parent saying they couldn't possibly leave their child alone all day because they'd just eat chocolate biscuits Hmm

There’s a green outside the front of my house and every day this holiday, inc Christmas Day, there have been teen boys (possibly some Year 6 ish too) on bikes congregating. No amount of going out there to disperse them changes anything. I’m so angry that their parents clearly just want their children out of their hair and couldn’t give a shit about illegally breaking rules and putting people’s health and livelihoods at risk Angry
TheHoneyBadger · 31/12/2020 13:36

Vulnerable kids should mean those on ss radar, those with particularly significant send issues and an ehcp and those we otherwise have welfare concerns about.

Not my ds can't work at home because his daddy has a terribly important and pressured job and needs silence from his minions to perform it.

I've no doubt we are watched. If we were as demented as the us4them nutters we'd have organised ourselves into a lobby group with a catchy name and a website and be exploiting our media contacts etc. As it is we're just an annoyingly unsilenceable bunch of hags on mn. Apologies to those who don't like to be called hags, it's really meant as a compliment fuckers.

DecemberStar · 31/12/2020 13:38

Like your style honey
