You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@noblegiraffe

Because, Ange there are a bunch of Tory mentals who don’t agree with your assessment that covid is dangerous.

They think kids get it mildly, so there’s literally no problem with it circulating in schools.

They’ll be the ones posting on here that most people that die are over 80 so who cares.

Careful now, I got called a pompous middle class arse for calling the Tory mentals à bunch of mad fuckers last week.

Has anyone seen the government? We seem to have 53,000 new cases today and everything’s going to shit and nobody appears to be doing anything.

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 29/12/2020 16:54

I am worried about going back - tier 4 secondary outer London.

If someone could guarantee that my COVID will just be a sniffle for a day or two great but I am over 45 with an arse the size of the London Eye!

Thank you to the kind poster who suggested that I retreat here after something of a mauling on a schools thread last night.

A brief read shows that you are indeed my people....

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/12/2020 16:56

It’s safer in here, cant.

Knackerelli · 29/12/2020 16:56

Yes,yes. yes to all of this.

And to the pp who commented on how our workplace hadn’t changed? Absolutely. I teach a reception class so that’s 60 kids, plus whoever picks them up, plus staff.

Tier 1,2,3,4 or 17 doesn’t matter. I go to work ( where it’s the same but different. Lots of hand washing but no fun stuff like play dough or sand or singing or Christmas plays or or or 🤬) come home and repeat ad nauseum.

Just so so so cross. Primaries aren’t even mentioned. Or considered. Because they are needed to be open so that their parents can go to work.

phlebasconsidered · 29/12/2020 16:57

Butmiss, my targets are the same as they are every year in 6 - 70% must get combined. I couldn't believe my ppm in December. It was honestly so mad I laughed out loud before I realised they were serious. Currently standing at around 30% and that alone is a fucking miracle!

In my new "work to rule" persona I am going to plod through the curriculum as it is planned and not cram it all in by May because what's the fucking point?

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 29/12/2020 16:59

@cantkeepawayforever - stay with the Republic. At least we are school staff with an understanding of what actually happens in schools on a day to day basis as opposed to those who now only go into schools for parents evenings, school fetes and productions.

I know this is very simplistic - but do you think primaries and SEN are ignored because none of the cabinet have kids in primary or SEN? A bit like how you forget the sleepless nights, but on a more fucked up national scandal scale?

noblegiraffe · 29/12/2020 16:59

Oh Cant I’d have directed you here ages ago but I thought for some reason you already knew about it. Sorry you’ve been out in the cold.

GleamingBaubles · 29/12/2020 17:00

Waves to Can't.

I have mulled wine on the go, if you fancy a mug?

DecemberStar · 29/12/2020 17:01

Was it any different when David Cameron was in office?

I have been here very occasionally in the past, but had forgotten about it in all the Covid madness.

Primary, so am looking forward to Monday morning and am in the middle of re-writing plans so they can be taught in school, remotely, or a mixture. I moved year groups in September to one without much good planning so there is little to fall back on....the joys.

To be fair to DC, I used to live in his constituency and he was VERY strong on schools as a constituency MP. Met him outside our local one, in fact.

I think school funding improved a bit then? Might be wrong
noblegiraffe · 29/12/2020 17:05

@DecemberStar

Nope, it was the same bunch of people Cameron was trying to placate by allowing an EU referendum.

Big crossover between Brexiters and covid-deniers. And because Johnson has a cabinet of Brexiters, that’s why we are where we are.

GleamingBaubles · 29/12/2020 17:09

Do you mean there's a big crossover between one lot of short termist, personal profiteering bunch of fuckwits, with a lot of short termist, personal situation focussed bunch of fuckwits?

Mmm I suppose there might be Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/12/2020 17:12

I believe there’s a significant overlap between the ERG and the Covid research group.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/12/2020 17:13

And God knows what it is they are supposed to be ‘researching.’

noblegiraffe · 29/12/2020 17:13

Well when you put it like that, Gleaming....Grin

GleamingBaubles · 29/12/2020 17:13

Erg?

Butmiss · 29/12/2020 17:15

@phlebasconsidered yes that sounds very similar to my targets! We were told to email SLT with a list of any children we had doubts about meeting their targets and my list was half the class! Hmm

I think I'll be working along the same lines as you. My goodwill is gone. I'll do my best for the children but I'm staying at the front as much as I can.

noblegiraffe · 29/12/2020 17:15

European Research Group. Jacob Rees Mogg’s lot.

The ones who stand up when the national anthem plays and aren’t quite sure what the Good Friday Agreement is.

Piggyinblankets · 29/12/2020 17:16

I had an anxiety dream last night. Easy enough to analyse:

I looked out of my window and saw a two year old child crawling about on the verge outside sans parents but with a dog. People kept walking past and ignoring child. I did some research and discovered child belonged to know slightly feral/feisty parents on the estate ( I dreamt actual name of shouty Facebook woman). Good citizen that I am , I overcame fear of covid to approach the child, who kept pawing me. I took child's hand and led her back to her parents' house. 'Keighley' (the DM) was emerging form her house with other random DCs in tow and a DH/BF. She looked mildly surprised to see errant toddler ,said it was indeed here, she didn't really need it back yet, it was always going for a wander, and could I 'look after her for a bit longer'.

Dunno what happened to the dog.

Well, I wonder what that dream means!?!

DecemberStar · 29/12/2020 17:17

🤣

DecemberStar · 29/12/2020 17:18

Was meaning - Cameron has a disabled child, did that result in any more regard for SEN?
