Hi all,

I'm really struggling with an online application with a new LA.

Previously I've been able to upload a chart stating how I meet the person spec but as it's online I couldn't get a sense of the whole 'form' in advance, if that makes sense.

Anyway, I have a question about the extra supporting evidence bit. It makes it clear that I need to show in that section how I meet all their essential criteria. Nothing new there, except that I wasn't sure what the latter part of the form would entail so I have already covered a load of criteria in previous sections.

For instance, I wrote as part of my current job description in an earlier section that I work with outside agencies (which is a requirement of theirs). Now, do I mention this AGAIN now in the section that specifically says 'tell us how you meet our criteria or you won't be short listed' ?! Is it asking too much to think that they'll cross reference back to my previous jobs section and see where I have experience.

I don't want to duplicate things but am not sure it matters what section things are under, if that makes sense.

There are about 6 criteria that this issue occurs with so I'd like to get it right!

TIA :)

Yep, redo everything. Idiot-proof your application. You'll need to go into more detail with these criteria though. Timelines, examples of criteria, potential leadership examples etc. Talk yourself up.

Thanks herdy- I wondered if I should go back and take out some of the job description detail so as to avoid repetition but then the earlier sections would be too brief....

good advice about examples and bigging myself up. thanks!!

I know this sounds silly but you did say idiot proof it... if they are asking for up to date CPD and I have already put that in their CPD section earlier surely I don't write that specific bit again???!!! Or do I just say my commitment to aforementioned CPD is demonstrates the fact that I am XYZ (insert desirable qualities).

Would you suggest wording like' as stated in earlier sections' or avoid that kind of wording.

In the previous CPD section I'm assuming you've just listed what you'd attended. This section would be for explaining the benefits to the students / dept / your own teaching.

Would you suggest wording like' as stated in earlier sections' or avoid that kind of wording.

I'd avoid. You could start talking about how your experience would directly benefit the department in the extra evidence.
