Staffroom

Are you still able to use the staffroom (Primary)? Ours has been moved into a bigger room and there’s a maximum of 6 in there at any one time, at a distance, so I think it’s ok if everyone follows the rules.

Also, what about staff meetings? Virtual or in person?

Staffroom open to get drinks, use microwave but teachers not allowed to eat in there. TAs can if they do lunch duty so have their break in lesson time but they must distance. Staggered lunchtimes means this is possible.

Meetings all virtual.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/11/2020 20:21

Staffroom open, but we're not allowed to work in there.
If we're in there, we have to be wearing a mask unless eating.
Only TAs eat in there now for the reason above- rest of us eat in our classrooms.

We have to wear a mask everywhere in school now apart from when teaching at the front.
We're not allowed to be in any other bubble's room, and if we HAVE to be, we have to wear a mask.
All meetings are virtual.

Subordinateclause · 22/11/2020 21:19

Yes we're allowed in our (tiny) staffroom with no limits on numbers. Staff meetings and briefings in person. I try to sit on the edge but doubt it makes much difference.

PoloNeckKnickers · 22/11/2020 21:29

We can use the staffroom to make drinks etc but have to eat lunch in the classroom. Should be fun when it's wet play. Staff meetings so far have involved the Head giving us tasks to complete in our classrooms. I think we have a couple of meetings coming up on Teams before Christmas.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 22/11/2020 21:42

All meetings are virtual. Hanging around the staffroom is banned in real life.

Dotinthecity · 23/11/2020 08:13

We’re using our staff room as normal but with a 6 person limit. It’s also used by teachers for doing PPA and for small face to face meetings.

Meredusoleil · 23/11/2020 18:04

6 people maximum in the Staffroom at any one time. Also have access to another much smaller room for eating. PPA room separate to both of these. No masks in sight unless external visitor comes in. Meetings within bubbles in person. Across bubbles in hall spaces out. It's almost business as usual 🙄

Yellowmellow2 · 23/11/2020 18:20

Gosh. A real range. We’ve tightened up our rules now in the staffroom. Reduced furniture which is distanced and only room for six. No PPA work in there, just eat/drink and leave. Better I think. It’s a very risky area otherwise if someone is contagious.

No staff room but departmental offices are as crowded as ever.

We had a sodding INSET on Friday with everyone in. Apparently “training” doesn’t count as a “meeting” so it didn’t contravene the risk assessment. Hmm

280 pupil Primary - other areas of the school have been adapted so that we now have 3 staff rooms. Lunch is staggered between 11.30 and 2pm so that there is only one other person in there when I am. Chairs are 2m apart.

Regular cleaning throughout the day. All toilets are 'bubbled' as well and only member of staff allowed in at a time.

PPA at home and meetings are vitual apart from a quick Monday morning briefing on the playground - 2m apart and masks.

Masks are worn outside the classroom and if you enter a classroom that isn't your own.

We sanitise the photocopier after each use.

None of our bubbles have popped - yet...

Yellowmellow2 · 23/11/2020 20:28

That’s strict WhiteFoxWindow, but good. We’ve just had our first bubble pop!

7 people allowed in our smallish staff room. PPA still in there, which I hate as now busy with staggered lunches, people in and out, no masks, and often goes 'over'. Still having full staff meetings, often x 2 a week, in a classroom. This week we have a whole school writing scrutiny meeting with everyone's books being passed around, which is fine, apparently, as we can just sanitise our hands before and after. I think it's crap and am close to waving joint union safety guidelines around.

PoloNeckKnickers · 24/11/2020 05:54

We are also allowed PPA at home. I hope that stays! Also (looking on the bright side) no Christmas Fayre or Nativity! Grin

WhiteFoxWindow · 24/11/2020 18:33

It is strict Yellowmellow2 but I honestly feel that we are as safe as our head can make it. She's also removed many of the usual pressures - mental health comes first for the children and staff. I feel lucky to work with her.

I agree WhiteFoxWindow. That all sounds very sensible to me.

I would be concerned about all that. Passing books around is a no no and unnecessary. Apart from the risk of catching it, if someone in your staff meeting/boom scrutiny meeting Tests positive then it sounds like lots of your staff will have to isolate because the proper precautions aren’t in place. Staffroom is the biggest worry I think. Anyone sitting less that 2m from someone for 15 minutes is at risk.
