Distancing during PPA

Is every school accepting that it's ok to work side by side at computers in PPA time? Rooms have a maximum occupancy but computers are so close together there is no possible way to maintain a 2m distance. Surely, this isn't right? Our SLT keep dishing out guidance but no one including themselves seems to be making any attempt to follow it. Are we supposed to accept this or challenge it? The Union reps keep saying they'll raise concerns but nothing seems to be happening.

My staff are home for PPA and collaborating online if they need to. Work from home if possible. It’s possible for PPA.

@Hugepeppapigfan That wouldn’t work in secondary with PPA in hour blocks.

Hugepeppapigfan · 10/11/2020 14:16

@LividLaughLurve it’s up to the school to make it safe then.

Our school has moved PPA from the tiny PPA round into the much bigger meeting room, where three computers have been set out, 2m apart. Which now means there's a Y3 maths group with two adults and about 10 kids in the former PPA room...

I visited a primary school with a long thin staff PC / PPA room (converted from a stock cupboard I think). They have hung clear plastic shower curtains between the chairs at the three PCs.
No windows, however, and the only door opened into an interior office.

We can now take PPA at home if we want (Primary). Is this an option, OP?

Edujaded · 12/11/2020 22:47

I'm secondary, unfortunately our PPA is the odd free here and there so no possibility of doing this from home. My school haven't made any allowances at all for extra demands on us moving around the school. In fact they've piled more on this year than before. They still seem consumed by progress 8 in a strange covid denial sort of way.
