Thrown under the bus

When did the lives of school staff become so worthless? Having spent half-term self isolating I can't help feeling that the government thinks my life is expendable. Anyone else?

😔 I agree xxxx

eitak22 · 31/10/2020 18:50

Couldn't agree more, our lives don't matter. Plus the way the unions are being talked about ready to make teachers the bad guys if schools aren't open.

Badgerstmary · 31/10/2020 19:15

Definitely Agee. Schools aren’t safe one little bit. 😞

Badgerstmary · 31/10/2020 19:18

I’ll admit I don’t want to go back on Monday.

Overthrhill · 31/10/2020 19:24

I’m just appalled that we are literally being thrown under the bus - no masks , windows that barely open and too many adolescents/ adults in a confined space with zero mitigation. I have no words 😶

Glitterynails · 31/10/2020 19:31

I’m a pregnant teacher and so worried. It’s so stressful and unsafe.

Lulu1919 · 31/10/2020 19:52

Agree.....I'm a TA and worked all through lockdown with vulnerable kids but I've not felt the love being back since September ....too many kids too close...too many adults around ....

@ukgift2016 - reading comprehension skills not all that good?

The poster above you wrote: I'm a TA and worked all through lockdown with vulnerable kids

Tomatoandbasil · 31/10/2020 20:29

@ukgift2016 who had 6 months off? Not any teacher I know of!

Dogsaresomucheasier · 31/10/2020 21:40

Same!

I’m hoping the unions get their act together this week. We need to go part time and commander more space to spread the kids out.

Badgerstmary · 31/10/2020 22:02

Please could somebody post the link for the petition about school shutting.

Gright · 31/10/2020 22:23

Looks like previously shielded staff will be able to work from home again, which means there will be closures by default. We are already short staffed with Covid cases amongst staff and others having to isolate. They'll have to start thinking about rotas in some schools.

ohthegoats · 31/10/2020 22:47

Both our DSLs were shielding. They came in during lockdown but sat in the office away from all kids. Not sure that's an option now with a full school - one is the head, the other is the SENCO.

HeyBaby2020 · 01/11/2020 21:20

I disagree, I work in a school and cannot wait to get in the swing of things Grin much rather be at work than stuck at home

Slightlybrwnbanana · 01/11/2020 22:55

What do you mean, get into the swing of things? What have you been doing since September?

Dogsaresomucheasier · 02/11/2020 06:52

I keep resisting from making remarks about inadequate parenting in the last lockdown.

I was at the computer 5 hours a day and more. I was even emailing parents when work wasn’t handed in. Very few did anything about it. I bet they are the same ones telling us to get on with it now.

Onebabyandamadcat · 02/11/2020 19:44

I'm in Scotland and feel exactly the same. The response from the education secretary to the EIS when they raised concerns was basically "don't worry, when you get sick we'll employ retired teachers to replace you". No thought to our welfare at all. I'm already feeling the burn out way you usually do at Easter - the stress, anxiety and workload is immense and getting worse

MistressIggi · 02/11/2020 20:34

I have just seen that. It's disgusting.
