That says absolutely no exemptions. Really? Only justification I can think of is they think the world and his dog will claim exemption. And I suppose they can't ask for medical evidence as GPS are a bit busy at present.

It's going to really antagonise some SEN parents though.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 01/01/2021 14:20

What’s the betting that if this is true, Gav will say it means that nobody is a close contact (as they had a mask on) so won’t need to either isolate or have a LF test!!

Oh, except all the children of U4T who will refuse to put them in masks, of course!

Piggywaspushed · 03/01/2021 09:42

Back in here and watching Boris... boy, is he being evasive!!!

FlagsFiend · 03/01/2021 09:43

Turns on light and pushes some mops out of the way. Takes a seat and waits to see who else turns up...

TheHoneyBadger · 03/01/2021 09:44

Sorry I meant to say name - don't go! You're not fully recovered and you're allowed to be ill in your training year especially if it's a bloody pandemic.

I had to be signed off for two weeks on my PGCE with what my doctor called 'recurrent viral syndrome'. My immune system was battered by the number of bugs encountered in the petri dishes that are schools.

Just call them and explain and say you're going to take a week (which is self certified) and hopefully you'll be ready to start back the next week.

AND I developed allergies from the filthiness of schools. I kid you not - I get hives and have to remember to try not to touch my face at school. I call it a dust allergy but god knows what the 'dust' actually is - a nice ripe mix of spores and dust and general grime.

I saw this on Twitter yesterday but I couldn’t get it to post on the old thread - looks like it’s going to be accurate...

As for us though I think back to normal would feel like a breeze - I can only imagine how much easier it will be to go back to having a room! To being able to be the owner of that space and keep it tidy rather than arrive at period 4 to find shit all over the floor and chaos. I can't imagine how nice it will be to sit at my desk at lunch and sip my coffee and get a bit of peace and quiet to check on emails and get ready for the next onslaught.

This is exactly how I feel. I teach 3 lessons a week in "my" room, which now is base for feral year 7s. I hate it, it makes me want to cry.

@TheHoneyBadger

What's boris saying?
He isn't doing very well. I can really see the impact of Cummings
Piggywaspushed · 03/01/2021 09:57

Boris was hugely evasive about exam cancellations there.

CallmeAngelina · 03/01/2021 09:57

I've programmed my BetaMax video tape recording machine on my television set Grin for Andrew Marr but I think it's going to make me too cross to actually watch.

I think we're running out of time and the minute children step over the threshold of classrooms, any ground made over Christmas with a fire break will be lost. They'll all mix all their germs and infect each other (and us), the numbers will rocket, people will be hospitalised and die, schools will then close and well done the fucking government.

Barbie222 · 03/01/2021 09:59

@Piggywaspushed

Boris was hugely evasive about exam cancellations there.
And about the possibility of school closures in a week. He even admitted to locking down too late.
NeurotreeWenceslas · 03/01/2021 10:01

Who has put back all the art stuff in a mess again? Angry

Honestly this fucking government. It's just ground hog day.

HarrietDVane · 03/01/2021 10:04

I can't bear to watch the lies. It does my blood pressure no good at all.

Piggywaspushed · 03/01/2021 10:05

Did you hear him saying there are 'different public health' views (in other words , rejecting SAGE). That thing he is being driven by?? So which ones does he listen to??

Jinglingmod · 03/01/2021 10:07

Yes, I thought that was terrible. He verger on basically admitting he picked and chose which facts to believe. What a vile, vile man.

Piggywaspushed · 03/01/2021 10:10

Anne Longfield klaxon on BBC News.

Vaccines are becoming the new panacea to shut us all up.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 03/01/2021 10:10

He follows the science unless he doesn’t like it, then he just follows the bullshit.

TheHoneyBadger · 03/01/2021 10:11

Maybe that's the alternative to knowledge based learning? Hmm

Monkeytennis97 · 03/01/2021 10:14

2 bbc news alerts 5 minutes apart

  1. send your kids to primaries tomorrow

  2. tougher restrictions including school closures will be needed

What are we living through?!?!

OytheBumbler · 03/01/2021 10:15

I can't believe we've been put in this position. No word from school as yet although I know there's a few of us in the NEU.
Do I have to get dressed for this zoom meeting?

SoFranCisco · 03/01/2021 10:16

I notice the line has definitely changed from ‘following the science’ to ‘following public health advice’ - presumably the latter can be made up by anyone whereas the former relies on actual knowledge and that...

JanuaryChill · 03/01/2021 10:21

Monkey can you expand?

I heard Anne Longfield re vaccine for teachers and it helped me crystallise my thoughts: that's a relatively minor issue (obviously not for some, individually)! The main issue is that open schools spread disease - always have, always will. And when the disease you're dealing with is as relatively deadly as this one, you shut the schools.

With the new strain they cannot argue that children don't get it, don't spread it.

Heard on radio the other day someone saying public health directors used to be virtually immune from sacking, because it was recognised they would sometimes have to take unpopular decisions for the good of their local area. Pictured Victorian times with cholera etc. This situation is partly a product of society forgetting what a killer disease is.

Interesting that a group of heads are calling for cancellation of exams in England.
