Working when off sick

My colleague tested positive for Covid on Monday, after one of the children in his class got it.. Year 1, so whole class bubble isolating.
Another colleague & I set the home learning up for his class for the 2 weeks. SLT have asked the colleague who is off sick to respond to the work his children submit. He is not terribly ill - but at the same time still not well. I had to self isolate in September with a class at home, it was hard work responding to all the online work.
Wondering what your views are on expecting staff to work when they are off sick.
And also, how are other schools managing this?.
It wouldn't be easy for the rest of the Year 1 team to do the responding as we are still teaching full time. But someone must do it.

He's off sick. Not self-isolating, actually sick. He definitely should NOT be asked to do that. If he feels up to it and chooses to, fair enough. But not when told (told or asked?) to. If he was off with any other illness, he wouldn't be expected to mark work daily.

No it's not fair he mark work. Setting cover should be it.

I was off with COVID a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't very ill initially but got a bit worse. HoD asked me to teach online lessons to isolating year 8s. I had said I would but was about to call to say I was too sick to do it when she told me I didn't need to. I am pretty sure the head told her it wasn't on.

I did some work whilst I was off - mostly to try to help the rest of the team who were covering my lessons, eg I wrote some quizzes for homeworks and planned some lessons that needed replanning.
