Returning part time after mat leave

Hi
I'm currently on maternity leave (baby is only 7 weeks so only just started). I plan to go back to work after May half term next year but ideally I want to do either 3 or 4 days.
I mentioned this to my head before I started mat leave and he said he's not a fan of job shares (we have one at the moment which isn't really working) and he said i need to apply to the governors. Does anyone know when I have to do this by?

I think the latest is to have a decision 8 weeks before you are due to return but I would advise contacting the school soon to start the process. Hope you have the response you are hoping for and congratulations on your new arrival

You can put a flexible working request in once per year. The school then has to consider it. I would say the earlier the better so they have time to plan.
