Hi all, I have a job interview next week for a TA. I have done this before I went on maternity. We have to have a 10 minute discussion with KS1 children about a picture of animals looking like they are in a race. What questions could I ask the children to get a discussion going? Just need a bit of help as my mind has gone blank and I haven't had an interview for years so very nervous!

Can you share the picture?

Think about VIPERS (google it if you’re not sure what they are) . Inference (what can they infer about what is happening) Ie the giraffe is sad as she has tears on her face. Prediction, The giraffe is going to win as her legs are longer than the elephants. Encourage them to use clues in the picture to make inference and prediction.
Retrieve, the giraffe is yellow (something that can be lifted straight from the picture.). Hope this gives you a few ideas.

This link gives some really good question starters you can ask. Are you with the class or via zoom?
