Primary teachers...

How are you holding staff meetings at your school at present?

OP posts:
spanieleyes · 25/09/2020 10:50

Via zoom

CatchingWind · 25/09/2020 15:24

Thanks SpanielEyes. Are you zooming in school from classrooms, or later on at home?

Is anyone having all-staff meetings in person?

We’re having them in person.

All spread out in the school hall (which is big & we’re a small staff - 1 form entry).

I still don’t think we’d pass the not closer than 2m for 15 mins + test though. But 🤷‍♀️

Lancrelady80 · 25/09/2020 20:13

We are. School A staff go to School B as a federation. On INSET days we all sat socially distanced in the large school hall. As the weather has been nice (up to now) staff meetings have been socially distanced outside.

We also have drop ins and monitoring from subject leaders who work across both schools. All subjects to be done in preparation for deep dives should OFSTED want them.

Subordinateclause · 25/09/2020 20:30

As normal to be honest, but we are a tiny school (and as such staff).

MikeDryden · 25/09/2020 20:36

Same as Hibberty in the hall, spread apart.

IBlametheTeachers · 25/09/2020 21:08

On Teams from our classrooms or home, if on PPA.

southchinasea · 25/09/2020 21:09

In person in the ICT suite - about 20 staff. Definitely not 2m apart or even 1. Doesn't feel like the right thing to be doing.

ohthegoats · 25/09/2020 21:14

We've got inset on Tuesday - in the hall, 2m apart. I'm not particularly happy about it. SLT has been 2m apart in one classroom. 6 of us. We've been in through lockdown with each other, some of 'us' (them) are a bit slack with SD.

GinWithRosie · 25/09/2020 21:29

Mix of Microsoft Teams if it's everyone, or a circle of spread out chairs in the hall if there's just our own year group or phase. It's working well so far and we are finishing much quicker !! Long may it continue this way 😂

We are. Two a week- one morning, one after school. All in the hall with doors open onto the outside and socially distanced
pooiepooie25 · 25/09/2020 22:31

Well- meant to be socially distanced but just realised we aren't as in one of the meetings we are sitting really close to our year group colleagues round tables

CraftyGin · 26/09/2020 09:08

We are using Google Meet from our classrooms.

CatchingWind · 26/09/2020 12:26

Sounds like lots of schools are doing in person then. We are moving to that I think and was wondering if social distancing is really possible. Sounds like some schools aren't managing to SD but are still meeting in person.

Now most people will have the track and trace app, if we spend an hour 0-2 metres from someone, who has a positive test result in the next couple of days, we'll be notified via the app and told to isolate and test. Within 2-4 metres, for that period of time, we'd also be notified and told to isolate and test (as I understand it). If staff sit even 3 metres from someone in the hall (for the length of a staff meeting) who then tests positive, the impact on schools and how many bubbles will be compromised will be quite big. Not to mention the actual risk of catching and passing on the virus.

I wonder why there isn't proper guidance about staff meetings. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Staff meetings, via zoom, from home. SLT meetings the same, even though there are only 6 of us. No large meetings at all, collective worship via zoom, any meetings of more than 3 also via zoom. If less than 3, social distancing in a large space!

How does that work from home? Do you all have similar commute times? I can see an advantage of having to make a quick exit, so that you are home in time for the meeting.

We are online parents’ meetings, and I am hoping they build in enough time for me to get home.

Can I come and work at your school please?! Sounds incredibly sensible.

Staff meetings start at 4.30, usually everyone is expected to be out of the building by 4 at the latest, on staff meeting nights the car park is empty by 3.30. It does mean the meetings don't finish until half past five but everyone is already home, in their pyjamas and hugging a cup of coffee or gin!

Parents evenings are remote and from home too. Staff can arrange times to suit themselves, over as many or as few days as they want.

Augustbreeze · 29/09/2020 10:48

On the app, 2-4m requires more time than 15 mins to potentially trigger a notification.

RaraRachael · 29/09/2020 20:17

We are having no meetings at all. We tried having them in the hall but that didn't work - big staff spread out in huge hall with high ceiling so couldn't hear a thing.. These have now been abandoned and we have an area in the hall where we put sticky notes with anything we'd like addressed,

Then once a week we get an email with the answers from the HT ignoring the awkward ones he doesn't want to answer
