How would you feel if this was your school?

Absolutely ridiculous. Time is even more precious than ever. Spend it on the right things!

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 14/09/2020 22:33

Bloody pissed off. Not fair on staff OR children. Utter madness.

fakeofsted · 15/09/2020 06:21

I can't believe that management would not stop to think that this is awful timing.
Even in a normal year this would be difficult timing - it's so early in the year. But after months of lockdown and with the routines we have to follow??

I'd resign. That's absolutely outrageous.

Primary or secondary? Not that it really matters. I'd write to board of governors and question the impact on staff wellbeing. Especially considering actual ofsted aren't resuming inspections until Jan. Though they are doing "visits".

Iamnotthe1 · 15/09/2020 07:11

False "Ofsteds" are a pointless idea in the first place and have no real benefit. They aren't a real reflection of what may happen during an Ofsted. Instead, management pretty much just pay someone to tell them what they want to hear (both positive and negative).

Real Ofsteds are ridiculous enough: it's so counter productive how whipped up some school leaders get about them.

I’d be looking at what other jobs were available. Probably lots, due to teachers resigning because of the same sort of nonsense in their schools. We’re going to have to look carefully.

That is shit management at the moment. Shows lack of priority- main focus this term needs to stabilise staff and students then to crack on with year 11 and 13.

Practice ofsted Is just a way for SLT to get a snapshot - know that due to previous posts

If you need an external body to come in for a small amount of time and pretend that they conducting an Ofsted inspection in order to gain an understanding as to what is happening in your own school, there is something wrong in 'leadership and management'.
Iamnotthe1 · 15/09/2020 14:45

The only justification that I can see for a fake Ofsted is to help your middle leaders prepare for their role in the process so that, when it happens for real, they feel ready.

However, most fake Ofsteds can't actually do this as the vast majority of people doing them aren't current inspectors. This is especially true after Ofsted told it's inspectors that they shouldn't be engaging in any unofficial visits.

In the end, the fake versions are a load of stress over something that shouldn't even be the load of stress that it is. I've always taken the attitude that Ofsted are welcome to come and see what we are doing. I'm grateful for their opinion in their feedback. If we feel that what they suggest has merit and will support what we are trying to achieve as a school, we'll implement that. If there are aspects of their opinion that don't have merit then we'll continue doing what we know works for us and our children.

I would be calling an emergency union meeting!

MrsHamlet · 15/09/2020 20:49

Appalling.

CessieSparrow · 17/09/2020 14:09

That is shocking
