You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on.

Well, we have a ‘mockstead’ next week! Talk about priorities...

Hodgeheg92 · 11/09/2020 22:17

Shock No way countdown! I thought ours were being ridiculous with workload and expectations but that's another level

Ffs. I honestly don't know what goes on in the heads of some SLT people.
Appuskidu · 11/09/2020 22:23

@Piggywaspushed

Forgot to mention it's my birthday (and DH's!).I have a sore throat,PMT, an extra lesson on my timetable as of Monday , no Spanish teacher for DS and covid in his school. Life is indeed good.
Happy birthday piggy and Mr Piggy!Flowers

Sorry to hear about all the other shite-hope you have a nice weekend and can forget about it a bit.

Some schools must really hate their staff.
countdowntonap · 11/09/2020 22:56

“ Some schools must really hate their staff.”

Announced on a Friday, so we can spend the weekend in anticipation I suppose.
With the worry over the number of kids being tested occupying our minds, I suspect the mocksted is going to backfire

SaltyAndFresh · 11/09/2020 23:11

I think if my school wanted to Mocksted me now I'd go off sick until I could leave.

tadjennyp · 11/09/2020 23:15

A friend of mine has had her DC sent home because they were coughing and spent two days trying to get a test for them. She is hoping that the tests don't get lost in the post. And they had a head lice letter this week too!

SaltyAndFresh · 11/09/2020 23:28

How's your mum, Jenny?

ohthegoats · 11/09/2020 23:43

Hearing this stuff about obs etc is ridiculous. Our deputy is acting up this term because our head has been parachuted in somewhere else. She's very gentle about everything, and has left 'low level monitoring' up to us (phase leaders). I won't really do any, I'm just going to make sure everyone goes home at a decent time.

Omg

That's more insensitive than bereavement training. At least my slt acknowledge we could loose children, parents or staff.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/09/2020 06:27

@Piggywaspushed

So, Eton gets mass testing. They have paid for it, and found several of their students to be positive! Nice to be able to contain an outbreak so quickly, hey?

So this was a planned testing event rather than finding symptoms?

motherrunner · 12/09/2020 06:31

@countdowntonap Whaaaaattt??? I think that would finish me off. I feel so sorry for you 😢

Piggywaspushed · 12/09/2020 07:31

Yes neuro, They tested everyone at the beginning of term.

cheesecurdsandgravy · 12/09/2020 07:50

@NeurotrashWarrior & @Piggywaspushed

I read (admittedly in the DM) that they were advised that it would be prudent by PHE given their “unique” boarding environment.

Funnily enough, PHE don’t seem to have made any similar suggestions for state boarding schools...!

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/09/2020 07:57

Pah!

Meanwhile, the rest of the country are struggling to get tests, including nhs workers using priority accessAngry

Happy Birthday @Piggywaspushed

Reading this thread and knowing I'm not the only one with worries is so helpful. Thank you to all you regular posters.

DreamingofBrie · 12/09/2020 08:29

Happy birthday Piggy and your dh! Glad you had a nice evening.

I've got safeguarding and fire training to complete online this weekend. Met all of my classes now and they are generally a nice bunch. Have such mixed feelings about being back. Nice to see my colleagues and the children again but i

DreamingofBrie · 12/09/2020 08:30

Feel unwell and stressed.

Frlrlrubert · 12/09/2020 08:35

One less party attendee for me. SIL and DN have developed coughs overnight. SIL says the test system is showing as 'try again later' after last night offering her no centres and saying it had run out of home kits. What a shit show.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/09/2020 08:53

Thanks Brie

Oh no frl Sad

This is a shit show. They knew this was coming ffs.

Slightly more positive here; ds is much better, as is toddler and Dh. The tight asthmatic chest and chills I'd started to get yesterday has gone . Which is unusual! We've religiously taken vit d all summer on top of lots of sun so I wonder if that's helping?

motherrunner · 12/09/2020 09:08

Sending 💐 and ☕️ to you all 💓

WhenSheWasBad · 12/09/2020 09:18

Happy birthday piggy hope you feel better soon dreaming

Lack of tests is a complete nightmare. We will get parents sending in untested kids simply because they can’t access the tests.

RigaBalsam · 12/09/2020 09:45

Happy Birthday Piggy.

Just catching up with the thread.
It's all a nightmare. The isolating is literally the 8 kids sat around the positive case nobody else.

Mum is doing well, thanks for asking @SaltyAndFresh.
