Taking temperatures

Evening. Just wanted to know if any of you are taking temperatures before children come in and why? Government guidelines say it's not necessary but my friends drops off at a local primary school and they are. She says it's causing absolute chaos in the morning especially if you have more than one child.

I run a preschool and even though we have a thermometer we will only take a child's temperature if they show signs of illness.

Anyway, just curious.

No, we're not, there would be queues a mile long!

Primary school here. No, we're not. Would take far too long. We have thermometers though just in case anyone shows any symptoms.

We take a temperature in class if a child has symptoms or says they feel unwell. With staggered dropoffs I think it would be too tight to take a temp at dropoff, but I think if a school could make it work it would be a good idea.

We aren’t, although do have a non-contact thermometer should we want to.

Yes we are during morning registration. Each form tutor has a non-contact temperature gun type thing. Anyone with a temperature is sent to matron.

If we didn't do that parents would be very cross. We have a lot of medics amongst the parent community who have heavily influenced the schools response.

Yes we are in the morning as an extra safety measure. It doesn't cause chaos though, we have staggered starts anyway, line the class up, go along taking temps and away you go.... next class.
Is it the temperatures causing chaos for your friend, or the staggered starts? You mention more than one child so I'm thinking the staggered starts are an issue but these aren't down to taking temperatures.
