Scottish results?

I’m fretting about the English A levels in 9 days so I’m keen to hear how the Scottish teachers are feeling about the grades their students have got?

We are a new and rapidly improving 6th form and I really feel every kid I proposed an A for deserved it. (I wouldn’t mind quite so much if the ones I was being generous to with a D were moderated to Es but the top end are our best cohort yet.)

What have you woken up to and how are you feeling?

I don't mind ones that have gone down a level but not a whole grade. One or two have gone down two grades!

@Mistressiggi That's awful! Really sorry to hear that.

That’s dreadful! Are you/they planning an appeal?

Very upset by the latest news from Ofqual in TES today, too. Last year we had a candidate entered who had skipped classes most of the year, but had a forceful mother who got the better of the head of sixth form. We didn’t want to enter her, but she got a U. How much damage is that little madam going to do our current cohort?

It's really worrying. I think we'll have to see what comes out in the wash. If it is as TES has reported, Ofqual have shot themselves in the foot as it might lead to many students wanting to re-sit.

Fortunately Ofqual have been forced to issue a statement to put the TES purported news where it belongs - in the trash!

At GCSE it’s been interesting to look at the CAG and algorithm’s grades side by side. The algorithm has saved the arse of some at the bottom end, and would have done real damage at the top without the CAG being allowed to stand. How on Earth are employers supposed to tell the difference?!
