Any Cover Supervisors on here? How do you feel about moving from bubble to bubble?

If that indeed is the case when we go back. I'm shielding at the moment but want to go back to school in September. I'm also a Cover Supervisor so unsure how this will work for me? Will I be able to go from bubble to bubble (from my own point of view and that of the children?)?

Yes, I'm just thinking about this. I'm not vulnerable or shielding but even so....

Guidance definitely says staff are not in bubbles to enable curriculum to be delivered, visitors to school are allowed as well.

Have you spoken to your employer about this OP?

Not yet @StrawberryJam200. They've been really supportive to be fair. I just don't see how this can work when my whole job depends on going from one classroom to the next with different year groups and children. 😟

It'll just be Staff sickness / self isolation, which may at times be big, or maybe not....

Staff can be redeployed if necessary (either because of vulnerability or because of need), do you have other skills the school could use?

Trips are specifically mentioned as being fine as long as they’re not overnight

Basically, there are no bubbles.

Supply teachers are fine, visitors are fine, volunteers are fine, wraparound care is fine, PPA cover is fine.

It’s all fine.

Yes, but I'm just not sure what else they'd need me to do. School is fully staffed so all roles are filled. Most of my cover is to cover sickness or PPA and it's pretty much always 5 lessons a day. I suppose they could assign one cover supervisors per year group (4 years/4 cover supervisors) which would be fine as long as two lessons in the same year group don't need to be covered at the same time! 😆

I'm wondering this. I cover ppa in a very large school (15 classes). Recently I've had a year R bubble. In September I'll be gping back to moving between lots of classes to release class teachers... Is this allowed?

Yep-the guidelines say it’s fine.

Personally, I think it’s absolutely crazy and not something I would want to be doing.

The teachers in my school are in bubbles @noblegiraffe. They all have 8 children and a TA and neither they nor their TA can move bubbles.

I just don't see how that's workable come September when everyone is back.

I should have said that the reason they can do that at the moment is that it's still only key children and vulnerable children in, our Head refused to open to Y6 there wasn't room to social distance.

OP the guidance for September clearly says that all staff can move between bubbles, in order to deliver the curriculum, think that's the phrase used. How this will be interpreted is another matter!

I'm doing ppa cover in every class in my primary in September as well as 2 full days in different classes to cover 2 part time teachers. This is a new role, not what I have chosen but due to cuts we've had to go to mixed classes so it was this or nothing. I wish I'd chosen the latter.
I feel completely expendable to be honest. If I make it to Christmas I'm leaving teaching. It's doing my mental health no favours and it's just not worth it. If I could, I'd quit now.

I am a HLTA in a two form entry primary. In September, the teachers will be teaching in their class bubbles 4 days a week. I will be covering their ppa on the 5th day. During ‘non COVID’ circumstances I would just cover the afternoon to allow for ppa. Now they will have a whole day of ppa in one day, every 2 weeks. The head doesn’t want two different adults in a bubble in one day. This means I will be teaching 120 children one week and the other 120 the following week, whereas the teachers stay in their bubble of 30. Not sure how I’m feeling about it..

I do PPA cover every day of the week, every class in the school (primary) over a fortnight. I see every single child! I have absolutely no idea how this can be "Covid Secure" for me with a shielding DH.

I'm also PPA cover in a large primary. I see 480 children over 2 weeks. I feel anxious about it too.

Secondary teachers will be seeing hundreds of students per week. There is no way to structure the timetable that they don't. I think we have to hope the incidence is lower (current estimates are 1 in 2000 people have it). So realistically the chance of anyone having it in school will be tiny.

This is no different to any secondary teacher, surely? We’ll all be moving between pupils?

No, I’m not shielding, and I’m sorry if you are and I sounded dismissive. It’s just that bubbles don’t really exist in secondary so I wasn’t sure how a cover supervisor would be different.

I'm in a middle school @MsJaneAusten so it's tricky in that any advice is geared either to Primary or Secondary and we're stuck in between. We've been in bubbles for a few weeks now and our Head is keen to keep that the same come September but I just can't see how that will work in our set up I suppose.
