You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

And over in goady-fucker land, we are now being called upon to teach until 4pm every day (for catch-up and childcare).

twinkletoesimnot · 29/06/2020 08:32

I've just bitten on that one CallmeAngelina - Ah I shouldn't look!

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/06/2020 08:35

Teach until 4.... we get chucked out at 2:30 for the deep clean.

Some are shit at maths.

TheHoneyBadger · 29/06/2020 08:36

Did anyone watch gavver?

I’d love to have reading age. In my first placement school, back in the Middle Ages, registers came with cat scores and it was so helpful. A quick glance through indicated how many ‘might’ need more accessible resources eg word fills, and how many might need extension tasks and be able to work more independently. RE was a very literacy heavy subject.

I hate that I have to search separately for every bit of info on every child eg send and pp rather than it all come on a class list

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 08:39

About to watch him.

Keir annoyed me by banging on about libraries again.

How on earth could anyone teach anything in a library??

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 08:44

Blood pressure going up just listening to him.

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 08:49

SD is going . He has again said it isn't about that. Boobles.

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 08:51

Does Gavin not realise there AREN'T ENOUGH SINKS??!?

FFS that was pointless interview.

flumposie · 29/06/2020 08:57

I saw part of the interview. I'm not impressed. He only ever mentioned the children. It's clear social distancing will be dropped in schools and not elsewhere Angry

RigaBalsam · 29/06/2020 09:14

He is on LBC he admitted the June return was ambitious.
Then blagged on about the importantance of school and that it will be compulsory in September.

Then he went on to talk about the building money. Never mind that Gav, crack on with the guidelines for September that are due this week.

A hierarchy of control he then started on about and his full class bubbles.

No mention of secondary again!

RigaBalsam · 29/06/2020 09:26

What is this hierarchy of control? Confused

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 09:45

It's the new buzz phrase, isn't it?

I assume it's hand washing and 'world beating' test and trace.

Hand washing will be at the top.

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 09:47

He mentioned secondary on BBC , mainly because he was asked. he acknowledged it was a difficulty and then said boobles , larger boobles.

Did anyone see him massively interrupt Louise Minchin , look mortified and then carry on saying whatever it was he just remembered he had been ordered to say! Louise's Face!! Grin

RigaBalsam · 29/06/2020 09:48

Boobles Grin

CarrieBlue · 29/06/2020 10:07

How on earth could anyone teach anything in a library??

I often teach in libraries. 1-2-1 but not as tricky as in McDonalds (which I’ve also done!)

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 10:09

Yes 1 2 1 obviously but not classes , which is what people keep banging on about.

CarrieBlue · 29/06/2020 10:13

I know, just responding to the anyone and anything 😂

Might all be moot as Beijing is shutting schools again now.....

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 10:19

Well, tbf, Leicester should be shutting everything down, too, but our government does not specialise in rapid decision making.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/06/2020 10:47

‘Cos don’t act early wake and see worked so well for closing down last time.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/06/2020 10:50

Or wait and see even.

tadjennyp · 29/06/2020 10:59

Cos don’t act early wake and see worked so well for closing down last time.

As opposed to Jacinda Ardern's 'we go early, we go hard.'

HedyPrism · 29/06/2020 11:32

Hi everyone. I have my induction on Teams next week so will find out what my new school is planning.
It's not going to be the post-PGCE Summer of fun I'd planned, but hey ho.

Piggywaspushed · 29/06/2020 12:09

I love all the focus on fining parents who don't send children in in September. Sigh. Because that is the solution.

noblegiraffe · 29/06/2020 12:11

Why would they need to fine anyone? Parents are desperate to send their kids back right now, for the whole summer and for an extra hour a day.

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/06/2020 12:21

Just realising that those of us with children may find we get pay docked for unpaid leave when our own children catch various other illnesses and have to be tested for COVID but it's not COVID.

That's going to be fun.
